WE DEFIED HISTORY

We were supposed to get thumped, spanked, shellacked.

We were supposed to lose the Senate, and lose our House majority by 25, or maybe 40, or maybe 60 seats.

History said we would.

But WE DEFIED HISTORY.

There was NO RED WAVE.

Women, young people, people of color showed up.

And right now, we’re waiting to find out exactly how big a disaster this election is going to be for Republicans.

To be clear, goddamn we took some heartbreaking hits - Stacey in GA - Cheri in NC - Val and Charlie in FL - Beto in TX - and as I write this, Mandela in WI. (Hang on, need to cry again.) But they have not yet scored a mortal blow.

WE ARE STILL ALIVE.

Control of the Senate will now be decided by Arizona, Nevada, and a runoff in Georgia on December 6. If we win all three, we not only hold the Senate but add one to our majority – Pennsylvania’s new Senator John Fetterman.

Ballot curing is going on NOW in NV, AZ, and other states, and can absolutely make the difference. Sign up HERE to help from wherever you are. (GOTV opportunities in Georgia coming today, at the same link! Donate to help with those!)

And stunningly, control of the House is still within reach. It may come down to all the swing districts in California that have been in our sights from the beginning.

These final, decisive battles will take days and weeks. Let these incredible Democratic wins (among so many more) fuel you:

  • The Blue Wall stood strong, electing three Democratic governors: Tony Evers in WI, Gretchen Whitmer in MI, and Josh Shapiro in PA!
  • Michigan elected a Democratic legislature, giving them a Dem trifecta for the first time in 40 years!
  • MA elected Maura Healey, its first openly lesbian female governor!
  • FL-10 elected Maxwell Alejandro Frost, the first Gen Z-er and Afro-Cuban American in Congress!
  • CA-42 elected Robert Garcia, the first openly gay immigrant in Congress!
  • Maryland elected Wes Moore, the third Black governor in American history!
  • New York elected Kathy Hochul, its first female governor!

Keep your head up. Hug your loved ones. Be good to yourself.

YOU MADE HISTORY.

Everything you did mattered – and will continue to matter.

Thank you for caring enough about people to keep putting yourself out there, one conversation at a time.

It is some of the most challenging, meaningful, loving work there is.

AND WE LOVE YOU FOR DOING IT, YOU BEAUTIFUL HEROES.

Love,
