2014 Upcoming Events |
It's hard to believe, but summer is just around the corner and PMPRF already has some exciting events lined up.

Dan Ison will be running the Boston Marathon on April 21st in honor of his sister Diane who was diagnosed with Appendix Cancer in 2013 and continues to fight her battle with grace and courage. We are thrilled that Dan has chosen to donate 100% of money raised to The PMP Research Foundation to help raise awareness and find a cure for PMP. Please visit Dan's website and help him reach his goal of $5,000 - he is almost half way there!
The Eighth Annual PMP Cancer Walk and Dad's Day 5k will take place once again on Father's Day, Sunday June 15, 2014 just outside Philadelphia, PA. Over the past 8 years this fantastic event has raised over $200,000 for PMP research. Come join us, or better yet bring your family and friends and form a team of walkers!
The Fifth Annual Summer Scurry takes place this year on Saturday, August 9, 2014 just outside Cleveland, OH. This event honors the memory of our founder, Lisa Luciano and includes a 5K Walk/Run, 1 Mile Kids & Family Fun Run, Lisa's Kids Fest and more. This event has also raised over $200,000 for PMP research over the past 5 years.

2013 Grant Recipients |
We are pleased to announce the recipients of our 2013 PMP Research Grant Program: Dr. Andrew Lowy, of the Moores Cancer Center, University of California, San Diego; Peter Thomas, Ph.D. Surgery and Biomedical Sciences, Creighton University, Omaha NE; and Venkatesh Govindarajan, Ph.D. Department of Surgery, Creighton University, Omaha NE.
Dr. Lowy's grant was awarded in honor of our founder and former President, Lisa Luciano, and the two Creighton grants were awarded in memory of founding PMPRF board member and former treasurer, Michael Dvorsky. We are so proud to honor Lisa and Mike in this way, and while we miss them both dearly, their spirit lives on in the work we do and we hope we will continue to honor them both and make them proud.

Rare Disease Day Statement
|
The PMP Research Foundation was proud to join other organizations advocating for patients suffering from Appendix Cancer and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei in signing a joint statement on Rare Disease Day, February 28. We were also honored that Sean Hepburn Ferrer, the son of Audrey Hepburn, was selected as the International Rare Disease Day Ambassador for 2014. Audrey Hepburn suffered from PMP, and over 20 years after her experience one of the greatest challenges with these diseases continues to be correct and timely diagnosis and access to the Standard of Care treatment, cytoreductive surgery and intraperitoneal chemotherapy. We share the hope with Sean and these other organizations that all future patients suffering from these diseases to receive the better care that they deserve.
