Pink Out Day For Breast Cancer Awareness
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month came to a close, Baldwin County Schools held a Pink Out Day! The proceeds of the wear pink fundraiser were given to United Way’s Pink Promise United initiative. Many thanks to Baldwin County Schools for their generous donation.
2-1-1 MOBILE Initiative
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Fund of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia committed $175,000 to the United Way of Central Georgia to create 2-1-1 MOBILE, a six-month pilot initiative that ensures Macon-Bibb County residents have access to rental and utility assistance, COVID-19 testing and vaccinations and other recovery resources.

2-1-1 MOBLE consists of a van, equipped with technology and Wi-Fi access, that will visit Macon’s Beall’s Hill, Mill Hill, and Pleasant Hill neighborhoods to assist residents with the application process for rental and utility assistance and other benefits.

United Way Donation to Bibb County School District
United Way of Central Georgia initiative Merrie’s Closet gave the Bibb County School District $10,000 provided by the Truist Foundation. The funding assisted the Bibb County schools with purchasing student uniforms and $800 in diapers/pull-ups for Northwood Academy. Purchases included over 300 polo shirts and 300 Khakis pants and 8 cases of pull-ups/diapers.
GEICO Donates New Shoes
GEICO employees held a unique fundraiser to fit 33 special pairs of feet in our community. Thirty-three children had their feet measurements taken and then a properly fitting pair of new shoes were delivered to these 33 children who attend two local nonprofits: Motivating Youth and Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia. A big thank you to GEICO!
Birdies for Brookdale Charity Golf Tournament
This year, the Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Birdies for Brookdale Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, November 26th at the Historic Bowden Golf Course.

All proceeds benefit the Brookdale Resource Center. The Center works to combat the local homelessness situation on many levels, not only furnishing homeless individuals and families with three meals a day, shower facilities, and sleeping quarters, but other resources are also provided including mental and physical health evaluations, educational support, job placement, and permanent housing assistance.

Glad Rags Golf Tournament
United Way of Central Georgia and The Gibson Family Foundation present the 
12th Annual Glad Rags Roaring 20’s Golf Tournament on Friday, December 3rd at the Club at River Forest in Forsyth, Georgia.

Register to play in the Glad Rags Roaring 20’s Golf Tournament and you will be helping create happy holiday memories for local families in need, including those homeless and residing at the Brookdale Resource Center, through United Way’s initiative The Merrie Christmas Project and The Gibson Family Foundation.
