Green Schools: Design & Build Competition
On March 2nd we hosted our annual Design & Build Competition where high school teams redesigned an area using climate adaptions and green design.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2023-2024 Design & Build Competition! Schools that excelled in this innovative challenge: Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, Dr. Michael M. Krop High School, Saint Brendan High School, and Hialeah Senior High School!

Main Conclusions of the Aspen Ideas Climate 2024 Conference
The conference in Miami Beach was a crucial platform for global leaders and advocates to address climate challenges, especially in vulnerable regions like Miami-Dade County. Discussions focused on solutions like resiliency, green infrastructure, and clean energy, stressing inclusive action and recognizing impacts on communities of color. Participants emphasized the importance of individual and business contributions to driving change regardless of political affiliations.
Launch of Clean Energy Connector Pilot Program 
On March 19, 2024, the Biden-Harris Administration, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, launched the Clean Energy Connector pilot program. This initiative connects low-income households eligible for HHS’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in Illinois, Washington, D.C., and New Mexico to community solar subscriptions, benefiting up to 40,000 families.
The program aims to reduce energy bills, expand access to clean energy, and promote equitable solar deployment, aligning with President Biden’s clean energy and Justice40 goals. Leaders from Illinois and New Mexico praised the initiative for its potential to alleviate energy costs and promote sustainability.
