2025 Scholar Seminar and Brunch

The 2025 WEAA Scholar Seminar was held January 18, 2025 at Wintrust Bank in Evanston, followed by brunch at the Orrington Hotel Lighthouse Room. These events gave board members and scholars an opportunity to spend some time together and reinforce relationships. We thank our Scholar Engagement Committee for organizing both events and to Lisa Winn, Kerry Peterman and Robert Stewart for honoring us with a great presentation.

Scholars on the Move

Monica Young

Monica is currently studying abroad in Sydney, Australia for an international business program. The program has been a truly rewarding experience so far, and she is headed to the Great Barrier Reef for spring break! Recently, she received an offer from Goldman Sachs to be a 2026 summer intern. She will be in the Private Wealth Management / Capital Markets division at their headquarters in New York City.

Thekra Alkadee

Thekra is planning on becoming a Peer Mentor for CE 203 alongside checking out lab assistant positions for the CE and EE labs in Tech! She is also on the search for positions at CDW's Chicago location over the summer.

Kennedi Wilson

Kennedi Wilson is a freshman studying Computer Science in the McCormick School of Engineering. She is a QuestBridge Scholar and a recipient of the Amazon Future Engineer scholarship. This summer she will be interning with Amazon as an Amazon Future Engineer.

Daniela Caceres

Currently, Daniela is working with Northwestern Student Organizations and Activities, focusing on various marketing, planning, and outreach-related tasks. Her biggest recent project has been creating a program in partnership with Northwestern's student organizations to provide grants for events specifically targeted toward beginners.

In addition, she has been preparing for her summer research project, which will explore lesbian representation in telenovelas and examine how these portrayals influence perceptions of sapphic women within the Latinx community.

She is also in the process of applying to the American Studies program and working on declaring a minor in Art.
