This Sunday is our Commitment Sunday. It's the Sunday where we'll ask you to physically embody your commitment during worship and bring your pledge card forward. (There will be a way to participate if you've already pledged.)
The act of bringing a pledge forward will be a reminder to all of us that we have to choose to respond to God's grace in our lives. It's a reminder that our faith is lived out through our hands and our feet and even our bank accounts.
I've been asking myself this week, what if we each committed to the act of responding to God's grace in our lives? What if everyone in this community committed to bringing something forward on Sunday? Not because we're trying to reach a budgetary goal, but because we're trying to do something so much bigger—we're trying to live as conduits of God's grace for this world.
Imagine worshipping with this community knowing that every person has made the commitment to respond to God's grace in their life.
I don't know what that experience would be like, but I'm hoping we'll find out together on Sunday because I imagine it would be a powerful experience for each of us. I imagine that being surrounded by people who embody commitment can only fortify your own. I imagine generosity only begets generosity. And, so, I imagine that grace would only multiply in our midst. What if?
I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday,
Betsy
