I'm so grateful to you for your flexibility and support as we navigated unexpected changes to our Christmas Eve plans. So many of you offered support, showed up to help staff, brought food, sent encouraging texts, and more. I do not take that gracious response for granted, and you should know that your flexibility and generous support are two things that set this community apart.

We will continue to rely on your flexibility as we navigate this continued surge in our community. Staff will continue to test regularly in order to avoid putting members of this community at risk. And, staff are following CDC guidelines for isolation and quarantine as necessary.

On Sunday, worship will be virtual only. As of now, we plan to resume two worship services on Jan. 9 with outdoor worship at 9 AM and a sanctuary service at 11 AM. Adult faith formation offerings for January will be virtual only. As of now, we intend to offer in-person faith formation for children and youth but it will be outdoors. We will continue to communicate updates on our worship and programming via our newsletter, social media, and our website.

At the end of this year, I can't help but reflect on this last year of life together. There is much to be grateful for, but today especially, I have renewed gratitude for the privilege of doing life together with you. Being in community doesn't shield us from uncertainty, heartache, illness, and pain, but it sure does ease the pain that accompanies all of those things.

Though there is much unknown about the year ahead, I am convinced now more than ever that God's promises are meant to be lived and experienced in community. What a gift it is to know that whatever happens in the year ahead, we'll learn something new of God's promises alongside one another, in community.

With great hope,
This Sunday, January 2, we will not gather in person.
Worship will be livestreamed via YouTube at 11:00 am.

We will welcome guest preacher Rev. Diane Pennington to the pulpit, who will preach a sermon entitled "What Do We Do With This Gift?"

In preparation, you are invited to read Micah 6:6-8 and 1 Timothy 6:11-19.
Please note that the church office is closed today Friday, December 31 and Monday, January 3.

A number of staff members will be out of the office this week, so please be aware as you are sending out communications with them.

If you are looking to make your year-end giving for either 2021 stewardship or Forward by Faith, please note that you may leave your payment(s) in the church mailbox, which is located behind the column to the left of the front doors off Bob-O-Link Drive.

Otherwise, you are invited to mail your check postmarked no later than Friday, December 31 or make your online gift no later than Thursday, December 30. Any payment submitted later than the previously mentioned dates will be recorded for 2022.
