GET INVOLVED AT CGS

Parish Life

Thursday: Happy Thanksgiving

As we celebrate our many blessings from God, we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Please note, the church office will be closed Thursday, November 24th, in observance of Thanksgiving.

Saturday: Chrismon Tree Arrives

The Chrismon Tree, a Christmas Tree which will decorate our church for the season, will arrive this Saturday! If you would like to help set up the tree, please arrive by 9:30 on Saturday, November 26th. If you would like to help with the decoration of the tree, we will begin at approximately 10:00am lasting until Noon. Please come and join us! Please contact John or Karen Boyne with any questions.

Sunday: Advent Begins Sunday

You will receive a separate Advent email with all of our CGS Advent offerings soon! Be on the lookout for this information as we enter the season of Advent this Sunday, November 27th!

Sunday: No Formation This Sunday

Please note, there will be no Sunday morning formation or evening EYC offered on the First Sunday of Advent, this Sunday, November 27th (the Sunday following Thanksgiving). Sunday morning formation and EYC will resume on Sunday, December 4th.

St. Nicholas Tree

The St. Nicholas Tree will have names on it soon, please be on the lookout! This project enables parishioners to shop for and give Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children. The tree will be in the Parish Life Center, across from the reception desk. *Please wrap the gifts and attach the child's star to the gift. If there are multiple presents for one child/star, please place the wrapped presents in a large bag to keep them together. Last year we had many children request bikes and electronics! These items are typically higher ticket items, and parishioners have found it helpful to join together with two or three other parishioners to split the cost.

Please return gifts to the church by Wednesday, December 7th. Questions, please contact Lynda Terrell-Rea.

Celebrating The Rev. Kristin Edrington

Thank you to all who celebrated the ministry of our deacon, The Rev. Kristin Edrington with cake and fellowship following the 10:15am worship service last Sunday. She is now moving to a new role at St. Mary's. Please see photos of her reception HERE.

Raleigh Youth Choir

The Raleigh Boychoir has changed its name to the Raleigh Youth Choir! We have changed our name to reflect our more inclusive environment celebrating diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Our auditions allow singers to be placed in the appropriate choir for their voice while still being flexible to make further changes during vocal growth. Finally, we look forward to continuing to listen to the needs of our community to help inform future decisions for years to come!

Realm Invitations

You have been invited to sign up for access to your own Realm account! Invitations were sent out from the church office last week. For security purposes, each individual parishioner will receive an invitation to sign up for an account. Please follow the prompts in your email to set up your account, and contact David Baggett, Parish Administrator, with any questions.

EYC Hot Cocoa Fundraiser Update

We are heartbroken at the tragic event that took place at the Raleigh Christmas Parade last Saturday. As the body of Christ, let us pray for the precious little girl Hailey, her family, loved ones, and those impacted in our community.

In the spirit of cherishing our young people every chance we get, let us take this opportunity to lift up in thanksgiving our wonderful EYC youth, their families, volunteers, and all those who supported their efforts on Saturday at their Hot Cocoa sale, including a special thank you to Leon Crosby. Funds raised during the sale will go to support their life in Christ as they learn and grow together this year in EYC activities, and for that we can all be thankful. Please see the group photos of our wonderful CGS youth HERE.
