April 21, 2022

Dearly Beloved,

This Sunday we have the joyful privilege of gathering at the font to baptize four children in the faith, Lyle, Jaylee, Josie, and Elliana. Both parents and members of the congregation will be promising to carry these children in the faith until they day when they can walk the way of faith on their own.

Then, later in the service, we will welcome this year’s Confirmation class to confirm those promises made at their baptisms and begin walking the way of faith. Since September, Evan Deegan, Gabe Erickson, Viv Kyler, and Rita Whitlock have been pondering the Christian faith and what it means to live the Way of Christ as a disciple. And they have been serving Christ and God’s people in personal and interesting ways.

Sunday, they will stand by that font and freely confess their faith for themselves. We hope you can join us for this joyful occasion in worship, and then join us for refreshments afterwards. This Sunday, you will also hear how they each multiplied the $100 given to them by the Mission Committee to support a cause or ministry of their choosing to further the work of God in the world.

This Sunday will mark an important mile-stone in the journey of these earnest young disciples, not a graduation, but a transition and beginning as they take responsibility for the work of being a disciple and join the congregation as full-fledged members. We are grateful for the support they have received throughout this journey to date from parents, Sunday School teachers, Young Children and Worship leaders, Seekers’ Advisors, confirmation shepherds, and friends. And, we are grateful for the gifts they have to offer to the rest of us. They are not just the future of the church – they are part of the church right now! Please join us.

Grace and peace,
Carter and Kerry
Support the CROP Walk this month
A team from First Presbyterian Church will be walking in this year’s CROP Walk to raise money to battle hunger locally through the Cluster Outreach Center, and globally through Church World Services. The money raised this year will also go to support the work of Church World Services to welcome and resettle refugees from Ukraine and other areas in the world. You can join the walk by walking, either this Sunday at 2 p.m. or on your own any time this month (the walk is virtual). Please sign up for the team or support the walk financially at https://events.crophungerwalk.org/2022/team/first-presbyterian-2

Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all.  (James 1:17 CEB)

At FPC Pottstown, we believe that our time, our talents, our earthly treasures are not our own; they are gracious gifts from God. God entrusts them to us, and calls us to use our gifts and our lives to make God's love known in the world.

We continue to clothe, feed, educate and uplift one another, and our neighbors in need.  This work requires offerings of time, talent and treasure. Your giving makes that work possible. Thank you!
