Spending the Summer Together!

This summer we’ll be combining our worship services! Summer often means vacations and family time, so this is a special opportunity to join forces, worship side by side, and feel the strength of being together in a season of travel and rest. We will combine elements from Traditional Worship and Anchor Worship in each location for a unique worship experience.

Arts from the Island Outing

We will gather to sing at 9:00 AM this Saturday, April 26th, at Hospice of Savannah and Spanish Oaks.

Arts from the Island is an important missional outreach of Isle of Hope's Music Ministry. Each month, we provide opportunities to sing for and with residents of area nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice care, and health care facilities.

All are invited to participate in any Arts from the Island event! No rehearsals or musical experience are necessary! All that is required is a willingness to make a "joyful noise!"

For more information, or to be added to the Arts from the Island email list to receive the latest schedule updates, contact Rev. Jared Wilson (jwilson@iohumc.com).

Missions

Wesley Community Center Food Pantry

During the summer months, many children in our community will not have access to nutritious meals. Your donations to the Wesley Community Center Food Pantry will provide healthy options for them. At this time, they need rice, grits, cereal, canned meats, peanut butter, and fruit. Please, no large cans or large bags of rice or grits.

Justice Unites Savannah Together

Please join us for Nehemiah Action on Monday, May 5th at 7:00 PM at Congregation Agudath Achim, located at 9 Lee Boulevard.

This event is organized by JUST — Justice Unites Savannah Together — a faith-based coalition working to bring about systemic change in our community. At Nehemiah Action, we’ll gather with hundreds of others to advocate for expanded access to mental health care in Chatham County.

JUST is especially focused on supporting individuals who are in crisis, as well as those seeking mental health support to prevent a crisis, but who too often encounter barriers to care due to extended wait times and a shortage in the mental health workforce. To learn more about the specifics of the campaign, please visit http://justsav.org.

We need your voice—and your presence. Your presence helps show our elected officials that our community cares deeply about justice and access to care for all. If you have any questions, contact Julie Vann at jvann@iohumc.com.

Playground Update

During the snow/ ice storm in January, both our main playground and the side one (for our smaller children) had sun shades and supporting poles that were significantly damaged. We will need to reset the poles in concrete before the shades can be replaced.

Our Weekday Ministries (Preschool) Board had already planned to raise funds to change the rubber mulch to playground turf this summer to have it ready for the 2025/2026 school year, and now their goals are even higher! Their fundraising committee has already been hard at work, with the May 1st Spring Soiree at the IOH Marina coming up next.

Many opportunities will be available to help make the IOHUMC playgrounds safe and fun for all children, so stay tuned. Contact Wez Childers with questions, wchilders@iohumc.com; 912-308-7778.

A Warm Welcome

SPR is thrilled to announce that Kathy Smith is no longer the Interim Assistant Director of Traditional Music because she is no longer the “Interim.” Kathy will continue sharing her gifts with us each week, and we are grateful for her commitment to this position. Please join us in thanking her and letting her know how excited we are!

Good Samaritan Circle Meeting

The Good Samaritan Circle is ending our year with a “blockbuster" of a meeting. We are having a genuine picnic at Joan Broerman’s. (15 Wylly Island Dr.) We will gather on Friday, May 2nd, at 11:00am for fellowship and a delicious picnic lunch on Joan’s deck overlooking the marsh! Please put this on your calendar,

If you are not a Circle member, perhaps you would like to “check us out” and come to the picnic. We think you will like us! Everyone is welcome.
