2025 Western Assessment of Resource Adequacy

WECC has released the 2025 Western Assessment of Resource Adequacy. In evaluating resource adequacy risk over the next 10 years, the report finds that planned resource additions fail to keep pace with the projected load in the Western Interconnection. Any delays or cancellations of projects would exacerbate the risk.

WECC has also launched a new Resource Adequacy site, a one-stop shop for all things resource adequacy that features the Western Assessment and corresponding supplemental material, System Performance Data Portal, Reliability and Security Indicator Dashboard, NERC assessments, and more.

Electrifying Trivia Answer

Answer C

A PSPS is when an electric utility temporarily shuts off power for a period of time to reduce the risk of a wildfire caused by utility equipment. This happens when there are dangerous fire weather conditions which include strong winds, dry vegetation, low humidity, and extreme heat.
