2025–2026 Winter Reliability Assessment Western Overview

WECC’s 2025–2026 Winter Reliability Assessment Western Overview is now available. The overview provides an evaluation of reliability during the upcoming winter season. Highlights include:


  • Most of the West is at normal risk with reserves ready for expected peak load conditions
  • Two subregions, Northwest and Basin, are expected to be at an elevated risk for shortages during extreme cold
  • Natural gas production and supply will be crucial during the highest risk periods
  • Cold weather standards have been improved to address recommendations from Winter Storms Elliott and Uri

Join us for the in-person NERC Self-Report and Mitigation Training (formerly WECC Enforcement Fundamentals) a two-day event tailored for compliance professionals new to NERC requirements or those seeking to advance their expertise. This training offers an overview of the framework in the NERC Self-Reporting and Mitigation Guide. Participants will benefit from shared best practices and strategies provided by WECC's Compliance and Enforcement staff, including hands-on guidance for using NERC Align and the Secure Evidence Locker (SEL). The training will also show how to make the most of key industry resources and guidance to strengthen your compliance programs. Connect with peers and enhance your capabilities in a supportive, professional environment.

WECC Bylaws Amendments—WECC Member Action Needed

ERO Happenings

Reliability and Security Technical Committee (RSTC) Work Plan Summit New

The NERC RSTC Work Plan Summit, hosted by Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC), will take place January 2022, 2026.


The summit will be an in-person meeting for RSTC members, RSTC sub-group leadership, and NERC staff. A virtual option will be available for observers. The meeting materials will be posted two weeks prior to the meeting.

Project 2025-03 Internal Network Security Monitoring Standard Revision Industry Webinar New

The NERC Project 2025-03 drafting team will review revisions being proposed for the CIP-015-1–Cyber Security–Internal Network Security Monitoring Reliability Standard December 9, 11:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. EST.


In addition to the revisions, the drafting team will cover the implementation plan.

Project 2023-01 EOP-004 IBR Event Reporting Industry Webinar New

The NERC Project 2023-01 drafting team will review revisions to the proposed EOP-004-5–Event Reporting Reliability Standard December 3, noon–2:00 p.m. EST.


In addition to the revisions, the drafting team will cover the implementation plan.

NERC 2025–2026 Winter Reliability Assessment

The NERC 20252026 Winter Reliability Assessment (WRA) is now available. The assessment examines many factors that provide insights into reliability risk. These factors include resource adequacy, encompassing reserve margins and scenarios to identify operational risk, fuel assurance, and preparations to mitigate reliability concerns.
