^New New Entity Resource Center

With the recent addition of 143 new entities as part of the IBR registration effort, we have worked to develop a New Entity Resource Center. The resource center includes presentations, both slides and recordings, on important topics for new entities, and links to other helpful resources.

We hope what new entities take away from it is to feel welcomed to the culture of reliability and understand that they are a critical part of the reliability ecosystem. Existing entities may also find it valuable. The resource center will be updated as new information becomes available.

WREGIS Software Launch Date

Following a collaborative review among WREGIS users, our team at WECC, and our development partner Atomic Object, we are announcing an updated launch date for the new WREGIS software: February 17, 2027.

This date reflects the shared priorities and feedback collected through the recent user survey regarding year-end compliance deadlines and scheduling needs, and our joint assessment with Atomic Object of the development timeline to support a successful rollout of the software’s Phase 1 features and required system functionality.

We will continue to keep stakeholders informed as we develop and prepare for the new WREGIS software platform.

Future of Path Ratings in the Western Interconnection

July 23, Salt Lake City, Utah

Join us for an in-person meeting to discuss the future of the Path Rating Process and transfer capability methods in the Western Interconnection. This event will bring together planners and stakeholders to:

Explore the Path Rating Process in light of evolving industry practices
Build a shared understanding of reliability and commercial aspects
Examine and compare traditional path rating and flow-based methods
Brainstorm strategies for the future of transmission planning

This meeting is part of WECC’s ongoing effort to ensure that any changes to the Path Rating Process align with industry needs and the region’s reliability and security goals.

Stakeholders who use path ratings, participate in the process, or work with flow-based methods are encouraged to attend and contribute to shaping the next chapter of transmission planning in the West.

Grid Fundamentals

August 18–19, Salt Lake City, Utah

This in-person training will provide an overview of the electric power system. Participants will explore how the grid works and the principles behind its operation and regulation. Each day will deliver insight into the technology, operations, and markets underlying a modern, reliable power grid. The course will also address reliability risks and challenges facing today's electric grid.
