WECC Publishes Report on Multiple Inverter-based Resource Disturbances New

In collaboration with CAISO and NERC, WECC has released the Inverter-Based Resource Disturbances in the Western Interconnection: CAISO, NERC, and WECC Staff Report. The analysis reviews four BPS disturbances that occurred in the West between March and June 2024. It highlights the importance of ensuring all BPS-connected IBRs operate reliably to support the grid. The report includes three recommended actions for entities.

NERC Self-Report and Mitigation Training New

This training offers an overview of the framework in the NERC Self-Reporting and Mitigation Guide. Participants will benefit from shared best practices and strategies provided by WECC's Compliance and Enforcement staff, including hands-on guidance for using NERC Align and the Secure Evidence Locker (SEL). The training will also show how to make the most of key industry resources and guidance to strengthen your compliance programs. FERC Approves WECC's 2026 Business Plan and Budget New

On October 30, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accepted the 2026 Business Plans and Budgets for the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), WECC, and the other five Regional Entities. 

 

This order enables WECC to continue to meet its delegated responsibilities under Section 215 of the Federal Power Act and advance its mission to effectively and efficiently mitigate the risks to the reliability and security of the Western Interconnection’s bulk power system.

The WECC EMT Strategic Workshop will take place November 19 and 20 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The workshop will focus on standardizing requirements, gathering input on regional practices, and sharing key updates on NERC’s EMT Standards.

ERO CMEP Implementation Plan 2026 Annual Update New

The ERO Enterprise released the 2026 Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program (CMEP) Implementation Plan (IP), describing the risks that will be priorities for the ERO Enterprise’s CMEP activities in 2026.

NERC Files Order No. 901 Milestone 3 Projects with FERC New

NERC filed Reliability Standards with FERC in response to the Milestone 3 directives from Order No. 901. Milestone 3 projects were adopted on October 31, 2025, and include:



NERC continues to develop Reliability Standards that address IBR planning in response to the final Milestone 4 directives from Order No. 901, due November 4, 2026.
