THE “I AM” LESSON 11
______________________
One of my favorite verses in the gospel of John is John 14:6. Jesus was teaching the twelve apostles of the Lamb when He said, (NKJV) “I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father, except through me.”
Jesus then goes on in verses 7-11 telling them that He is in the Father, and the Father is in Him. In other words, the two of them are One [in unity].
Back to verse 6 . Jesus is the one and only way to eternal life. There is no other way. Satan has deceived multitudes of people in thinking there are many paths to God. Even Christians have been deceived to believe this.
Jesus is the Truth. All truth is rooted and grounded in the Father as its source. As Jesus is in the Father, so is all truth in Jesus. He is the very essence of truth.
Jesus is the life. It is in Him that we have life. He is in us, and we are in Him [through salvation] both now and eternally.
The way, the Truth, and the Life. In other words, without Jesus we would be nothing, just a vanishing vapor here on earth. With Him, we have everything. He is our “all-in-all.”
For this reason, we praise His name daily – the I AM.

SUBMISSION

In 1 Peter chapter 5 Peter speaks about those that feed the flock but then speaks to the saints. He speaks about submission in verse 5. It reads, “Likewise, ye younger, [not mature in the Lord] submit yourselves unto the elder [those mature in the Lord]. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility, for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
Submission means that we respect and honor those that have the leadership in the body of Christ. It may be a Pastor, Elder, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher, Apostle, or anyone that is more mature in their walk than we are.
Submission means that we are willing to listen to others in authority and take their counsel. It does not mean we are floormats to be stepped upon. Earlier in this chapter it tells those that feed the flock of God to be examples, and not authoritative. They are not to do it for “money’s sake.”
Submission also means that you do not have to always have your own way. You are willing to lay your plans aside to honor another’s plan. It goes both ways. We are to submit to each other. This truly is the way of love. It never has pride and always wants to give God the glory. Yes, there are leaders chosen by God, and we should respect them, but leaders should also respect those that are in the flock. We must remember that the flock belongs to God, who is the chief shepherd, so we never do anything that He would not do. Whatever we do we are doing it as if we did it to the Lord. We submit to Him first and then others.

As I contemplated what God wanted you to hear today, I heard this:
"Many of you have been tempted to quit. Yes, the battles have been hard, and yes, the road has often been rough, but this is not the time to quit. If you could see into the spirit realm you would see that you are just about at the victory line. So, take a deep breath and resolve that you will not quit this race."
What an encouraging word! We often want to throw in the towel just to find out victory was in sight. I encourage you to take this word from the Lord and speak it over yourself today.
