WOMAN’S GOD-GIVEN VALUE LESSON 6

LYDIA

We now shift to the New Testament example of Lydia, the sponsor or “Pastor” of the new church in Philippi.

Apostle Paul made his first venture into Europe going to Macedonia where he preached in the city of Philippi (Acts 16:12). God moved upon Lydia to open up her house as a meeting place for believers. We today would call it a house church.

Paul spent quite some time in Philippi as new believers were added to the house church. He spent time teaching the new believers. Even the Philippian jailer (a Roman) was converted through the work of Paul and Silas.

We know Lydia’s church was prominent because when Paul and Silas were released from jail they went directly to Lydia’s house (Acts 16:40) where the believers were meeting.

Lydia was essentially the Pastor of the house church in Philippi. However, that did not last. When Paul returned to Philippi several years later, the men had taken over the church. There was no more mention of Pastor Lydia. The male bias against women in leadership had taken over. Tomorrow we will go to Paul’s writing to discuss that sexist bias.

Nonetheless, God honored Lydia by blessing the church and growing it. He still calls women as well as men into His ministry. Who is man to tell God who He can or cannot call?

GIFTINGS

There are those of us that think they have no gifts from God. They think if they aren’t a Pastor, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher, or Apostle that they aren’t gifted. This is way far from being true. First of all, each of us is given the free gift of salvation. We don’t have to do anything to earn it, only receive it by faith. That is the greatest gift one can ever choose.

Secondly, it tells us in I Corinthians 12 that Holy Spirit divides the gifts of the Spirit as He wills. Someone may have the gift of faith while others may prophesy. Yet others may have the gift of tongues and interpretation of tongues. Some may have the gift of healings. Some may have the discerning of spirits while others may have the working of miracles and prophecy. All of these gifts come from God. Remember, He gives them as He wills. In I Cor. 12 it tells us also that just because one has a gift doesn’t make them better than someone else. Every part of the body of Christ needs each other.

One of the most needed gifts in the body of Christ is the gift of helps. This may be someone that helps take care of the church cleaning or the grounds of the church. It may be someone that sings in the choir or praise team. It might be an usher or any other kind of help that is needed.

Each gift is important to the body of Christ, so do not discount what you have. I Corinthians 12:31 says that we are to earnestly covet the best gifts, but then in chapter 13 it says that the more excellent gift is love. Love keeps the gifts together and the church together. Remember, the greatest gift we can receive is the love of God through salvation. That in itself should be sufficient enough for each of us.

PROPHETIC WORD

For I would say that these are the days of the sower overtaking the reaper. Yes, there has been much sown, but the harvest has not been brought in. I have said that the harvest was white, but the laborers are few. I have pleaded with my children to work in the field, but it has been to no avail. Do you know that I died for those that have not been harvested? Do you know that my life blood was spilled for them? Yet, so few are willing to do the work of the laborer, and bring in the harvest. You have said there would be a great harvest, and that is what the voice of the Lord would want, but yet many sit waiting for others to do the work. Will I hold you accountable, saith the Lord? Yes, I surely will, for when I bring rewards there shall be many that will walk away empty handed because they did not listen to the call. For this is the day of acceleration. There is much happening in the heavenlies and upon the earth that will accelerate. Remember my time is not the same as yours, and if I choose to accelerate things then they will accelerate. There has been a stench in my nostrils from those that would say that all is well and that all is forgiven. I would say that all is not well with the church and with your nation. All is not well, and there will be an acceleration of judgement like no one has ever seen since the days of old. For surely, judgement is here and will fall from all directions. Fear will rise up and mankind will be running to and fro for answers. They will not find them anywhere but in me saith the Lord. I am their only hope. I am the only high tower and place of refuge for those that in need of protection. Acceleration is here, and things are about to change swiftly. Take heed and warn those that are not walking rightly with me, for their repentance will save them, but if they do not repent, they shall see the wrath of God fall upon them. I have warned and I have said prepare, but few have listened. Let this be a time of falling to your knees and coming closer to me than ever. Do not be alarmed that these things are about to happen, for I have told you from old that they would come. Men’s hearts are about to be full of fear, and only knowing me in a close and intimate way will take the fear away. I longed for my children to go forth into the field, but they have remained in the house. Now they shall see what has been said, and they shall see it with their own eyes saith the Lord.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Someone needs to know that those obstacles you’ve been experiencing; Absolutely do not have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t you turn around and give up; BUT rather you somehow figure out a way to climb it, go through it or work around it. I really believe any difficult obstacle that may come our way...Can be turned into tools that God will use to strengthen, challenge, mature and to make us vessels of honor that He can use for His glory and His service. I’ve learned throughout my lifetime that obstacles will force us to either make a change and grow; OR to complain and remain the same. Yes, l believe God will use those hard places and situations that comes into our lives...As a way to cause us to look deeply inside our own hearts and lives. This will usually result in us taking a thorough inventory of just where we stand; And then it’ll cause you and I to eventually become more like Jesus...As we slowly but surely watch the old man within us die. This will inevitably help to expedite the "Greater One, Jesus Christ taking preeminence in our hearts and lives. Yes, even in spite of all the negative things going on all around us. Stay safe, guard your hearts and have a blessed day.
