STORIES JESUS TOLD CONCLUDES AUGUST 11!
Nearly one-third of the words of Jesus recorded in the Bible were stories – we know them as parables. These "parables" are stories that spoke to the relentless love of God, and the meaning and purpose of life. Jesus spoke of good Samaritans, prodigal children, rich fools and unforgiving servants, lost sheep and new growth choked out by weeds--and with each story he answered the questions we ask in life. JULY LEADERSHIP UPDATE!
In July, Beth Lindgren shared the exciting things happening in our children’s ministry. Not only is she a fan of Christine, our new Director, she’s excited about the new UM curriculum, Deep Blue Kids that has been chosen to begin September 8th. It has a kid’s app and there will also be opportunity for mission work every 6 to 8 weeks! Following Sunday school, Ms. Christine will lead Children’s Church in the Upper Room with the focus on worship education and participation. Also, interested 3 rd – 5 th graders will have the opportunity to serve as acolytes and ushers in the sanctuary! Lastly, Beth shared that the classrooms are being spruced up. Supplies are getting organized, furniture is being moved and plans are underway to paint the art room and map room the weekend of August 10th & 11th. Allie Hamilton is organizing this effort. If you’ll be in town, please consider a gift of your time and talent!

Isaiah 43:19 says, “ See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland .” God’s vision is unfolding – providing a changing view each week of the “new things” He is doing at Wayne Church. Let’s praise Him for His faithfulness, thank Him for His provision, and ask His continued blessings on our children’s ministry in the months and years ahead.
COFFEE WITH THE PASTOR THIS SUNDAY!
For Inquirers & those considering Membership to Wayne Church
When: Sunday, August 11 @ 12 noon
Where: The Upper Room (across from Pastor’s office)
There are few greater joys in the life of the church than receiving new members. We will be adding to our church family in the coming months. This time together is designed to get to know the Pastor, explore personal faith, Methodism, and how we seek to express these beliefs. If you are interested, please email Pastor Tom. Childcare will be provided in the toddler room, #E107.
SUMMER READING FOR THE LADIES!
Wild, by Cheryl Strayed is the next book up for discussion. Used copies are available in the Narthex.

We will meet on Monday, September 9 at 7:30pm at Elissa Schoenlank's home to talk about this intriguing story.
SUMMER READING FOR THE MEN!
As Gen Z leaves the church in record numbers, the adults in their lives feel at a loss to stop the trend. Yet there are research-based and proven strategies that help young people both own their faith and effectively engage the world around them.   “So the Next Generation Will Know,” by Sean McDowell , provides strategies and practical tactics to help parents, youth leaders, and Christian teachers train the next generation with the truth of the Christian worldview. With the right training, the young people we work with don’t have to be another statistic.   Join us at Men’s Breakfast in the Well on Thursday, August 15 at 6:15am to continue the discussion!

FOOD PANTRY ITEMS NEEDED!
Every summer, food collections slow down so our food pantry is in need of any nonperishable food supplies and toiletry items you can provide.   We can especially use cereal, pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly. Any soups, vegetables, pasta, tuna, beans and mac and cheese are always welcome. Toilet paper, soaps and paper towels are needed also.   Help our food pantry through the summer.   You can leave your items in the baskets outside the church office.   Please, no expired items.   Thank you for your support of this longstanding ministry !
