(Our regular 10:30AM worship service will always take place as usual.) This month, we will be returning to the Radnor Township Civic Association. The morning will begin at 248 Highland Avenue at 9:15 AM with prayer and coffee. We will then work inside the building cleaning and preparing for the November re-opening.

SEPTEMBER SERMON SERIES
The Greatest of These is Love
“… faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”  These beautiful words of 1 Corinthians have long been recited at weddings as wide-eyed couples prepare for storybook lives in holy matrimony. However, Paul’s letter was written to a people who were fighting to keep their community from falling apart. The believers in Corinth held grievances against one another; struggled with sin in a culture fueled by sex; marriages were tested, and idol worship was the religion of choice. Join us as we engage Paul’s 1 st letter to the Corinthians and discover how these ancient words instruct us today.

In a community outreach effort to bring awareness to the plight of so many homeless animals, not only in our region, but those who have survived hurricane Florence and are in need of homes, the Wayne Church will be performing an extraordinary “Blessing of the Animals.”
ALL ANIMALS ARE WELCOME! Big or small, bring ‘em all! Pastor Tom will preside over the ceremony, blessing animals of every shape and size. From fish to horses, and of course dogs and cats, all are welcome to participate. In keeping with the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi, Pastor Tom will bless each animal in the Franciscan tradition, and each will receive a special certificate of blessing. Proceeds from a freewill offering will be distributed to local animal shelters.

EXPERIENCING GOD'S PRESENCE BIBLE STUDY STARTS OCTOBER 2!
Inviting all women of the church to join us for our kickoff Bible Study event, to be held on Tuesday October 2 nd , 7pm at Elissa Schoenlank’s home (see Church Directory).

Elissa has been involved in art her entire life and claims she lives in an art gallery which she is prepared to share with us. We plan to gather at her house at 7pm, have a Mexican style buffet dinner, look at her art and hear about her ongoing work, now that she is devoting her time to painting. Following this, we will focus on our journey forward in our Bible Study together.

This evening will also include beginning our bible study on “Experiencing God’s Presence”. In this first study in the  Jesus Calling Bible Study Series,  you will be encouraged to lay down your cares and just spend time each day with your heavenly Father. As you follow the Lord’s instruction to “be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10), you will encounter His peace, be filled with His strength, gain a new perspective on your situation, and experience the full life that only He can provide .

Study Books are $9 each and copies will be available for sale at church on upcoming Sundays (or in the church office during the week). Again, very casual, come as you can, arrive late, leave early. Wear sweatpants or pajamas. Even if you cannot attend all weeks, we encourage you to join us at Elissa’s house for the opportunity to view her beautiful artwork.

Dates: Every other Tuesday evening at 7pm
Tuesday, 10/2 (Elissa Schoenlank’s home)
Tuesdays, 10/16, 10/30, 11/13, 11/27, 12/11   (Kimm Ebersole’s home)

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL RUMMAGE SALE!
A huge THANK YOU from the Rummage Team to all who donated, shopped, and of course helped at our September Rummage Sale.   Profits at the sale itself came in   over   $1800, and once we complete sale of some larger pieces of furniture   (mostly from the Parlor) our total proceeds should be above $2000,   so this was   one of our biggest sales ever.   AND we gathered items for Cradles to Crayons and Chosen 300, gave stuffed animals to needy kids and disoriented Memory Unit folks, donated several boxes of books to Radnor Library, fulfilled $10 coupons for several food pantry recipients, and created a lot of happy customers in the community.   All while providing a huge pile of leftovers for GreenDrop and keeping desired goods out of the landfill.   Many thanks   again to all who contributed to this success for the Kingdom.   Next sale is November 30/December 1.

MAIN LINE UMC CHARGE CONFERENCE, TUESDAY OCTOBER 9TH!
Charge Conference is a unique feature of the United Methodist Church.   It is the vital link between our local church and the global general church that meets once each year.   This year, on October 9 th at 6:30pm, all ten United Methodist Churches on the Main Line will gather at Wayne Church to hold a combined Charge Conference.   Registration and refreshments take place at 6:30pm followed by a short period of worship before charge conference officially begins. All church members are invited and encouraged to attend.
ALICE TRAINING, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27 @ 9:30AM!
The threat of an active shooter attack in a church is rare but very real.   And it is our responsibility to be as prepared as we possibly can for such an unfortunate event.   Therefore, we ask you to come together on Saturday, October 27, at 9:30am in the sanctuary for a very important training event.   Mark Beiderman from the ALICE Training Institute (Alert Lockdown Inform Counter Evacuate) will teach us what to do in an active shooter scenario.   ALICE believes that individuals must be trained in proactive response options, rather than a passive, mandated, one size fits all response. Everyone should have the knowledge and skills to survive when shots are fired which can be achieved by training as many people as possible and implementing training in drill form.   See you there!
