THE HAMILTON SERMON SERIES CONTINUES!
Hamilton: Faith & the Power to Transform
Alexander Hamilton led a remarkable life. A Caribbean immigrant born into poverty to unwed parents, he was orphaned at the age of 12 along with his brother James. Two years later the boys' legal guardian committed suicide. Shortly afterwards a hurricane devastated his home island of St. Croix. How could this boy, who endured such incredible hardship, end up a Founding Father of our country? The story that follows is one of faith, grace, forgiveness and God's power to transform. Join us for this revealing sermon series as we explore the unlikely life of Alexander Hamilton as told in Kevin Cloud’s book, God & Hamilton.

SCAM ALERT! PANDEMIC TRACERS!
Pennsylvania officials are warning us of a new scam. This scam has people calling and posing as COVID-19 contact tracers. The scammers usually ask for Social Security numbers or ask how you will pay for the service. STOP RIGHT THERE! The contact tracing is FREE and the legitimate tracers will never ask for your Social Security number. For a list of what questions will be asked click on the link below.

If you are contacted by a tracer and unsure if they're authentic, call the Pennsylvania Department of Health at 877-PA HEALTH (877-724-3258) to verify. Click the button below to read the full article.
LADIES' BOOK DISCUSSION
Looking for some interesting reading this summer? Then check out the novel we will be discussing next, The Dovekeepers, by Alice Hoffman. This one will not disappoint! Nearly two thousand years ago, nine hundred Jews held out for months against armies of Romans on Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. According to the ancient historian Josephus, two women and five children survived. Based on this tragic and iconic event, Hoffman’s novel is a spellbinding tale of four extraordinarily bold, resourceful, and sensuous women. And perhaps just a nice little escape from the current, daily struggles. We are hoping to gather in person on Monday, September 14 at 7pm on Michele Leonard's patio. We will firm that plan up as we get closer. Till then, get reading!
No registration required! Zoom link will be emailed Monday, September 7th to everyone on Christine’s Children’s Ministry email list. If you don’t receive emails from Christine, please email her and she’ll add you!
Listen in as Pastor Tom addresses any questions or concerns that have popped up over the past week. You will also have an opportunity to ask a question during the Live session.

CHOSEN 300 THANKS!
Thank you to all the volunteers and generous donors for our successful meal hosting with Chosen 300 in Pottstown on Saturday August 22nd.   Due to the COVID 19 crisis, as we did our April and June hosting, we had to serve the meals “to go” to our guests. We distributed over 90 meals to those in need. There are so many words of thanks to go around:
·        Our meal prep team who prepared the meals to distribute.
·        Our food pantry who gave the Chosen 300 some items for the meals.
·        Those who submitted prayers & encouragement that were printed & given out with meals.
·        The great on-site group who packed, transported and distributed the meals.
·        Our donors who gave food and funds.
·        For another hard working group who organized and shopped for this event.
·        Any and all who supported through prayers.

“And if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness and your gloom will become like midday.” - Isaiah 58:10

Our next hosting is Saturday, October 24th.  This meal will most likely continue to be served “to go”.   If you are interested in participating in or donating to this wonderful ministry please reach out to Kimm Ebersole or Agnes Fischer below. If you want to be part of a very moving and rewarding experience we would love to have you. Keep in mind making this all come together involves many different ways of serving.  Thank you, again for your love and generosity.

MEN'S BREAKFAST: THE BOOK OF RUTH
When: Thursdays @ 7am
Next date: September 17
Please join us from your home as we study the Book of Ruth. God can seem distant when dreams fade, people die, or careers fail. It may feel like he slammed the door in your face and walked out for good. No one knows the feeling of abandonment more than Ruth and Naomi. Their story begins with the worst—death, famine, and poverty. And God remains silent. But the book of Ruth doesn’t end with despair. The story brims with hope because God works on behalf of the two widows in ways they least expect, behind the scenes. On the surface, this book tells the story of two widows and a kind landowner. Even more, it teaches us about God’s faithfulness, love, and providence.

For anyone interested, please contact Pastor Ebersole and he will send you the instructions to sign on to Zoom from your computer or other device.  Zoom can be used with laptops, iphones, tablets, ipads, and computers- most any device that can connect to the internet.
