NAR Issues New Call for Action!

REALTOR ® action has helped positively influence tax reform in some key areas, recently.  If you responded to the call, THANK YOU!

For example, both the House and Senate have agreed to maintain deductibility of state and local property taxes up to $10,000, and to maintain Section 1031 tax-deferred exchanges in their present form for real estate investments.

BUT OUR WORK IS NOT DONE.

We still have an opportunity to influence Congress to help make the tax reform bill more favorable to homeowners and consumers.

Now that both the House and Senate have passed The Tax Cut and Jobs Act, a Conference Committee will begin to address the differences between the two bills.

Important improvements in the legislation are possible by encouraging Congress to maintain the current law for the mortgage interest deduction and capital gains exclusion.

Retaining current law makes the bill more favorable to homeownership.

Take action to tell Congress to protect middle-class homeowners.

Mobile Tech Changing Real Estate Forever

Mobile tech is a "given" for every agent and broker.

It is changing the face of the real estate transaction forever.

Every tool we now use, from our websites to all the tech tools that help us manage our business and close real estate transactions, must be mobile friendly.

Going forward, all new software must be developed with a mobile-first approach.

It's vital to understand why.

Read How Mobile Tech Is Changing Real Estate Forever from the TechHelpline blog, online here.

Annie Fitzsimmons, the Washington REALTOR® Legal Hotline attorney, says "yes you can."

The real question is: is that Broker exercising "reasonable skill and care" when s/he is so geographically removed from the property?

Does your street do up the holidays right?

Do you just love that place with the thousands of lights synced to Christmas music?

The Spokesman-Review wants to hear about it.

2017 SAR Christmas Party - Thank you!

SAR photo

THANK YOU to sponsors, donors, guests, and volunteers who all contributed to a smash success of the 2017 SAR Christmas party, last night!

The event helped us all celebrate a good year in local real estate, and offered a comfortable time for new friends and old friends to enjoy each other's company with good food, drink, and entertainment.

SAR photo

Our venue was the comfortable and familiar Lincoln Center on near-north Spokane (photo above).  Our Christmas party was one of the last events to be held here in its role as an event center.  The building has been sold to new owners who will soon begin work to convert the building back to its original purpose to serve as a church.

THIS WEEKEND!
Saturday, December 9th

The 12th Annual Bing Crosby Holiday Film Festival will be held on Saturday, December 9, at the Bing Crosby Theater in downtown Spokane.

The event will feature some of the best loved films of Spokane's own Bing Crosby, along with a gallery of photos of the famous entertainer, and a special live musical performance by Howard Crosby (son of Bing Crosby's brother Ted) and Spokane's own Hot Club of Spokane, featuring music from the Crosby era.

This year's festival will be especially nostalgic, as it is the 75th anniversary of Bing Crosby's famous recording of White Christmas.
