SAR leadership said "thanks for a great year" to 2016 SAR President Susie Luby at the last monthly board meeting of the year, this week.

Susie presided over a number of successful initiatives and events during her term - including the Washington REALTORS® Back to the Future Fun Night (which explains the DeLorean on her cake, photo above).

President-elect Jennifer Valerien will begin her term as president at the association's installation luncheon in January.

Elmendorf.  Elmendorf.  Why is that name familiar?

Frederic Elmendorf was the first president of our association when it was founded in 1911.  His 1903 Dutch Colonial Revival house was listed on the Spokane Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Stefanie Pettet offers a visit to his (still standing) South Hill home (pictured above) in her Landmarks column in The Spokesman-Review, online here.

Stefanie references the excellent book, Spokane - Our Early Years, by Tony and Suzanne Bamonte.  This book was commissioned by the SAR to celebrate its centennial in 2011.  Copies of this book (pictured above) are on sale at the SAR, at the special member price of $7.50 per copy.
