We Have a Hirst Fix!

The Washington REALTORS® 2018 Legislative Day (January 17th & 18th)  brought 500 REALTORS® from across the state - including 20 from Spokane - for two days of issue briefings and meetings with legislators.

The group went over hopeful that lawmakers would pass a Hirst Fix.  The group returned with news that a Hirst Fix was, in fact, passed by both the House and Senate, and signed into law by Governor Inslee (see details below).

Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed SB6091 - a REALTOR® supported bill - on Friday, January 19th, 2018, to fix the State Supreme Court's Hirst Growth Management Act decision regarding water availability for new private wells.

Washington REALTORS® Public Policy Director Bill Clarke says this is good news on Hirst - the 2016  Washington State Supreme Court decision that froze water permits on private wells and hobbled development on rural land.

He has prepared an easy-to-understand summary of what is accomplished with the legislative Hirst Fix, signed into law last week.

See that document online here.

Washington REALTORS ® Government Affairs Director Nathan Gorton and Public Policy Director Bill Clarke have an update and some great news coming from the Hill.

Both the Senate and the House have passed a fix for the Hirst Decision - the Governor signed the bill January 19th.

Here are a few details on what this victory means for REALTORS ® and Homeowners in a five-minute video:

Spokane County's residential real estate market took home buyers on a wild ride last year. Prices were up; inventory was down. Prospective buyers sometimes found themselves in bidding wars for homes, which is unusual in Spokane.

Name that Style

Can you name the style of the house pictured above?

Every house has a style. Sometimes it has two or more; because of renovations and new, eclectic mixes, fitting a home into one specific category can be daunting or even impossible.

Thankfully, there's no need to memorize complicated architectural terminology.

REALTOR® Magazine has compiled a convenient compendium of common styles.

Delve in and learn to highlight the details that give a home character, history, and romance.

The style of the house above is craftsman.
