about Tax Reform
|
The National Association of REALTORS®' Call for Action on tax reform remains active a week after it was issued.
NAR believes the bill, released by the House Ways and Means Commitee last week, represents a tax increase on middle-class homeowners.
"Realtors® believe in the promise of lower tax rates, but this bill is nowhere near as good a deal as the one middle-class homeowners get under current law. Tax hikes and falling home prices are a one-two punch that homeowners simply can't afford," says NAR President William Brown.
The Call for Action letter is pre-written - all you have to do is enter your information and send it in.

2017 NAR Profile of Home Buyers/Sellers
|
Opportunties: solid interest in buying a home, sparked by steady job gains, record low mortgage rates, and higher rents.
Challenges: the severe drought in housing supply in much of the country over the past year accelerated price growth and kept many first-time buyers out of the market.

RESPA Dos and Don'ts
|
Real estate brokers and agents are subject to the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) when engaging in transactions involving federally related mortgage loans.
RESPA generally prohibits any person from giving or receiving any "thing of value" in exchange for the referral of settlement service business.
Liabilities for RESPA violations may be severe, ranging from significant fines to imprisonment.
NAR has prepared
RESPA Dos and Don'ts (pictured above) - that offers some guidelines for real estate professionals when engaging in co-marketing activities via social media and other web-based marketing tools.

Switching Lenders
|
Annie Fitzsimmons, Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline lawyer, shares a question she gets frequently - and answers it:
Is a Buyer allowed to use a Lender, different from the Lender who wrote the Pre-Approval Letter, that was used by the Buyer to, at least in part, persuade the Seller to accept Buyer's offer? Is Buyer required to get pre-approval of Seller before switching Lenders?
