#RDOWNTOWNSPOKANE

The #RDOWNTOWNSPOKANE campaign is off and running!  Launched by your SAR last week, the challenge was passed to the Spokane Homebuilders Association which encouraged its members to take on the initiative this week.

#RDOWNTOWNSPOKANE was launched in tandem with the Downtown Spokane Partnership to encourage various groups to patronize downtown businesses that are being negatively affected by ongoing road construction.

Here is one of the many groups of SAR members who participated in the challenge this week (photo above).

Public Image Surges

Real estate is looking good.  The business, that is.

The real estate industry's image, as calculated by pollster Gallup from a survey of 1,032 Americans, is now higher than the overall favorability of U.S. industries for the first time since 2006.

Read more in the Orange County Register, online here.

See the survey report on Gallup.com online here.

Property Rights

Elected officials and activists from all around Washington State will share their experiences, tactics, and strategies for restoring property rights, transparency, and government accountability in Washington State from the local government level all the way to the State Capitol in Olympia

There are a  variety of training sessions, seminars, videos, and panels being presented.

Register online here.

Growth Management Act at 25

The Washington Research Council completed its report, The Growth Management Act at 25 Years, this summer.

From the Executive Summary:

Looking back on the 25 years since its full implementation, the GMA has been marked by an ambitious set of goals, often in seeming conflict with each other; unfulfilled promises by the state to financially aid local governments; and perhaps a too-idealistic notion of the potential of centralized
planning.

You'll want to read the Spokane County Case Study that begins on page 28.

Download your copy of the report (pictured above), online here.
