We're Packing the Pantry!
|
Spokane Association of REALTORS® members are out at the Spokane-area Albertsons grocery stores today for our annual food drive.
REALTORS® are collecting food and cash donations to help Second Harvest stock the shelves of partner food banks serving local neighborhoods.
Spotted at the Spokane Valley (Pines Road) Albertsons, where Tony Byrne (Heritage Home Loans) is the store captain, are (left to right, photo above): Kristine Hanson (Coldwell Banker Tomlinson), Shelley Champagne (Coldwell Banker Tomlinson), and Tana Ryan with iHeart Media.
If you can't make your donation in person, make it online right now with Crowdrise - click on the logo below to enter your donation now:
Remember for every $1 donated, Second Harvest provides 6 pounds of food - the equivalent of 5 meals for hungry people.
The gift of food changes lives and gives people an opportunity to succeed and thrive.
Thank you for your donation!
2018 SAR President
Ken Sax (right, photo above) and
Julie Humphreys (center, photo above) with 2nd Harvest talked about our Pack The Pantry Food Drive on KQNT590 Radio with host,

SAR Board Meeting Report - September
|
2018 SAR President Ken Sax convened the scheduled September 2018 meeting of your association's Board of Directors on Wednesday, this week.
Breaking News: Your Board of Directors, after receiving input from the Budget and Finance Committee, approved a one-time reduction of $44.00 in MLS Fees for this upcoming 4th Quarter. Your Board of Directors are continually looking for ways to benefit the membership. With the number of users of the MLS running ahead of the 2018 budgeted number, this one-time reduction in MLS fees is something the Directors feel our budget can absorb. Your MLS fees will return to their normal level for first quarter 2019.
The Board of Directors elected Eric Johnson to the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors for a one year term beginning
December 1, 2019. Under NAR Director Entitlement Policy, once a local Association has a primary membership count of 2,000 as of July 31 that local Association is entitled to a NAR Director position. This is Spokane's second time we have been entitled to a NAR Directorship. The last time was in 2007.
The board approved a one-time investment of $3,000 with the Spokane Police Department and Gonzaga University to complete a qualitative analysis of how neighborhoods improve when zombie houses are returned to viable properties. Details on this project will be shared here in the Weekly Notices this fall.
The SAR Board of Directors schedules its meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at the SAR.

Waterfront Homes Affordable
|
|
The Spokesman-Review photo
|
Waterfront prices in Spokane and Stevens counties are up by more than 12 percent over last year, with an average median price of $400,000, according to the Spokane MLS. A non-waterfront home in Spokane costs more than $235,000, according to a July report from the Spokane Association of Realtors.
But compared with larger metro areas, waterfront is still fairly affordable in the area, said Ken Sax, president of the Spokane Association of Realtors and designated broker for Keller Williams Realty.
"There are a lot of people coming in from Western Washington because, when you look at Seattle or Los Angeles, are you going to pay $5 million for waterfront or $650,000?" he said.
