Why Is The Village Hall Phone Ringing?

Can I place recyclable materials next to my recycling container on collection day?

No, pursuant to Village Ordinance, all recyclable materials must be placed inside the recycling container with the lid completely closed. This is required in order to prevent glass and other debris from falling out of the container during the automated collection process.

When is 2nd installment of Property Taxes due? For those residents who elected to pay their property taxes under the installment plan, please be advised that the due date for the second installment is March 31, 2023.

Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP) - Public Comment Form

What is the CORP?

This CORP was developed by the Village of Whitefish Bay Staff, along with a team of consultants from GRAEF, to guide recreation management and park development for the next five years and enable the Village to apply for grant funding from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and other funding sources.

This plan creates an up-to-date inventory and evaluation of Whitefish Bay’s existing parks, identifies the needs of community members related to outdoor recreational opportunities and provides a list of recommendations to the Village to assist with its Capital Improvement Planning (CIP) efforts related to parks and open space.

Please review the Draft Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP) and provide your comments by linking to the CORP Comment Form. The Public Comment Form will be open through March 8, 2023.

Message From The Police Department:

Please remember, do not leave your car unattended if you decide to warm up the vehicle on an especially cold day. It only takes seconds for a criminal to steal an unlocked, running vehicle. In fact, this recently happened in Whitefish Bay on February 18, 2023 at approximately 5:36 p.m.

The Police Department asks that you be particularly vigilant in making sure that the keys are out of your vehicle(s) and that they are secured. Be smart, be safe!

February 22, 2023: Lead-in-WTR (Water Treatment and Remediation)

The Lead-in-WTR Initiative is a free, voluntary program for early childcare sites and Head Start Programs in the state of Wisconsin. The goal of the program is to sample and test a childcare site’s water for lead and help them take action through faucet replacement or appropriate signage.

Why is it important to test for lead in water?

Some old pipes and fixtures (i.e. faucets or water fountains) may contain lead. Over time, this lead may seep into drinking water and, when consumed, enter the bloodstream. Unfortunately, infants and young children are especially susceptible to lead exposures and could develop health complications such as:

·       Behavior and learning problems

·       Lower IQ and hyperactivity

·       Slowed growth

·       Hearing problems

·       Anemia

·       Speech and language impairment

Since September 1st, 2022, the NSHD has been a direct coordinator of the Lead-in-WTR Initiative in the North Shore on behalf of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

As of February 2023, there have been a total of 11 childcare site who have voluntarily participated in the FREE initiative.

Kiwanis Club:

Pancake Breakfast with the Bunny

Come celebrate Spring at the North Shore Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast with the Bunny on Saturday, April 1, 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The event will take place at Dominican High School, 120 E. Silver Spring Drive, Whitefish Bay.

Enjoy taking photos with the Bunny, raffles, and a delicious breakfast featuring pancakes, sausage, juice, milk & coffee. Tickets are available at the door, from Kiwanis members, or at Winkie’s Variety Store - just $9 per adult (10 & up) and $6 per child (over 2 years of age).

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. All proceeds will benefit Kiwanis youth charities. Event Sponsors include Bayshore Dental, Orley Shabahang, David Hobbs and Associated Bank.
