Village of Whitefish Bay Official Weekly Newsletter

Message from the Village President, Kevin Buckley

Last week, Hounds Around Town appeared before the Plan Commission with a simple request: to permit dog grooming in the business district. The meeting took 9 minutes, as all were in favor.

After the meeting, the owners explained the desire to add grooming was centered around being profitable, as so many people purchase pet food online now.

So, attention all dog owners: Hounds Around Town is hosting a Valentine's Day Dog Party next Saturday, 11-1pm on Silver Spring. The party includes free PUPcakes and human cupcakes, a photo booth, and you can even learn your pet's future with a Tarot card reading.

Most importantly, in the spirit of shopping local, please try buying a bag of dog food there, ok?

Have a great week! -kb

Village-wide Property Revaluation

The Village’s Assessor, Accurate Appraisal, will be at the Village Board meeting tonight to provide a recap of the 2023 assessment year as well as a preview of the Village-wide Property Revaluation they will be conducting this year. Wisconsin law requires municipalities to periodically complete a thorough review of all assessments. During a revaluation all assessments are examined and adjustments are made where necessary to guarantee that all property is assessed at market value. This is done to assure that taxes are distributed equitably and uniformly.

The Village of Whitefish Bay in partnership with COM2 Recycling Solutions will be hosting a FREE electronics recycling event on Saturday, February 10*, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in the Public Works Department parking lot (155 W. Fairmount Ave). Please enter from northbound lane on Lydell Ave.

COM2 will be accepting computers, laptops, printers, keyboards, mice, fax machines, phones, televisions, tablets, e-readers, gaming consoles, DVD players, VCRs, stereos, microwaves, and much more! Any hazardous materials (batteries, paint, or medical waste), Freon-containing items (refrigerators, air conditioners), or radioactive materials will not be accepted.

*In the case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to Saturday, February 17.
