This week, please bring your kids to the Bike Safety Road-eo @ Lydell school. Whitefish Bay's police will be hosting bike safety lessons and helmet fittings. Read below for details.
For the adults .. there's an Oktoberfest at Klode Park's beer garden, hosted by 1840 Brewing. This 4-day festival starts on Thursday and continues through Sunday. Check below for times, music and food truck options!

When is Village Trick-or-Treat? Village-wide Trick-or-Treat will take place on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note: Block parties are not permitted on the day of Village Trick-or-Treat.
When is the next brush chipper collection? Brush will next be collected by Village crews next week (Beginning Sept 18). Brush should be placed in the parkway between the curb and the sidewalk.

Refuse and Recycling Reminders: | |

Important Reminders for the Refuse and Recycling Program:
- Only Village-issued carts may be used for refuse (gray) and recycling (blue).
- Carts should be placed on the parkway, driveway apron, or outside your alley garage with the lids closed.
- Carts should open toward the street or alley with the handle toward the house.
- Carts should be placed at least three feet apart from each other and any other obstruction on all sides of the cart.
- All household waste must be put inside carts for collection. Any garbage bags or additional recycling outside the cart will not be collected.
- Structural items (i.e. a mattress or couch) that cannot be broken down to fit inside the cart up to 4'x4'x7' will be picked up for free on your normal collection day. Simply place the item(s) at least three feet away from your cart at the curb or in the alley.

If you have extra garbage bags with household waste, additional recycling that cannot fit into your cart, and/or structural items that exceed the size limit for a free pickup, you can schedule a $45 paid special pickup. For more information on special pickups, click here.

Additional carts (refuse and recycling) are available for sale for $75 each. The order form is available online. Payments can be made in person at Village Hall (5300 N Marlborough Dr) during regular business hours (M-F, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.), or by mail.

Director of Public Works
This is a salaried, full-time position with excellent benefits.
The Director of Public Works functions as a department head under the supervision of the Village Manager. This person is responsible for the Village’s public works services including the operation and maintenance of, but not limited to, streets, sewers, water, lighting, sidewalks, public buildings, vehicle maintenance, grounds and right-of-ways.

Service Worker
Hourly rate starts at $24.99/hour with a 6 year pay increase plan and excellent benefits.
This full time position performs general labor tasks including but not limited to landscape maintenance, yard waste collection, tree/forestry maintenance, utility operation and maintenance, park and building maintenance, street maintenance as well as other general labor duties within the Department of Public Works.

Oktoberfest at Klode Park
1840 Brewing Company returns to Klode Park for an Oktoberfest celebration, Thursday, September 14, through Sunday, September 17. Enjoy live Polka tunes and music from Jeff Hinnendael, as well as a different food truck each day.

Whitefish Bay TALKS: Cathedrals: Clues to Identifying Biblical Figures in Cathedrals Around the World with Lorrie Wenzel

This presentation will help you identify the Biblical Figures in Cathedrals around the world. A great tool for any traveler, it unlocks the artistic clues the great painters, sculptors, and glassmakers provided to identify important biblical characters and early Christian saints. Its purpose is to guide visitors globally through any cathedral and enable recognition of saints and martyrs in works of art.

We'll work together to build the way.

About Leah Rothstein
Leah Rothstein is co-author, with Richard Rothstein, of Just Action, a sequel to The Color of Law. While in The Color of Law, Mr. Rothstein described how government policy created residential segregation, the sequel will describe how local community groups can redress the wrongs of segregation.
Ms. Rothstein has worked on public policy and community change, from the grassroots to the halls of government. She led the Alameda County and San Francisco probation departments’ research on reforming community corrections policy and practice to be focused on rehabilitation, not punishment. She has been a consultant to nonprofit housing developers, cities and counties, redevelopment agencies, and private firms on community development and affordable housing policy, practice, and finance. Her policy work is informed by her years as a community organizer with PUEBLO and Californians for Justice, working on housing, public safety, environmental justice, and youth leadership, and as a labor organizer with the Union of Needletrades, Industrial, and Textile Employees (UNITE).
Ms. Rothstein received a Bachelor Degree, with honors, in American Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master of Public Policy Degree from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.
