WFCM News For You

Executive Director's Update

During the month of May, I had the opportunity to participate in several events that raised funds to support the work of WFCM. On May 2nd, the Feed Fairfax 5k was held in Greenbriar. Each year this family-friendly 5k attracts hundreds of participants and WFCM receives a generous donation to support our Free Food Fridge program that provides weekend meals for students at 12 local Fairfax County Public Schools. On May 11th, we held our 8th Annual Spring into Action Golf Tournament at the Chantilly National Golf & Country Club. Each year this tournament provides a great day of fellowship for WFCM supporters while raising funds for our operations, and it was great to once again connect long-time friends and sponsors with new friends and sponsors. And, just last week, we celebrated the new key business sponsorship with Starwood Capital Group. Starwood Capital Group has committed to a multi-year $100,000 donation to support the operations of our Chantilly Free Food Market to ensure that community members have access to a client choice market when they are in need of food assistance. The event highlighted the importance of partnerships between Fairfax County Government, nonprofits like WFCM, and local business partners in meeting the critical needs of community members.

With the support of many families, congregations, and businesses, including Starwood Capital Group, WFCM has provided nearly 1.2 million pounds of groceries and $271,000 in rent/utility assistance to 1,400 unique families* (4,167 people) already this fiscal year, in addition to providing weekend meals for 700 students and supplemental food for community members via three community Free Food Fridges. And, your generous spring appeal donations help ensure we can continue to serve families in our two client choice markets and with home delivery of groceries when our new fiscal year begins on July 1st.

This is the difference you make -

While visiting a local affordable apartment complex last month, a resident spotted my WFCM logo shirt and approached me to share the difference WFCM is making in her life. She has a good job in healthcare, but as the single mom of two teenagers she doesn't have quite enough money to buy groceries to prepare meals for their family of three. She doesn't have a car and she shared that she has been getting home delivery of groceries from WFCM. She thanked me for the groceries and the delivery option and we spoke about the great community where she lives that is in walking distance of a lot of the places she and her kids need and like to go. I was so glad to have the opportunity to learn more about this family and I am so thankful for the partners who work with WFCM to help us serve them.

Your partnership is critical and impactful for thousands of community members!

God bless,

Harmonie Taddeo, Executive Director

*These are unduplicated numbers meaning that while many of these 1,400 families have received services more than once during the fiscal year the numbers we are sharing reflect 1,400 different families who have accessed support through WFCM.

Together We Can Do It!

Thank you to everyone who donated during the first two months of WFCM's Spring Fundraising Appeal. Thanks to your generous support, we have nearly reached our $100,000 goal.

There is still much work to be done, however, to meet the needs in our community and we deeply appreciate every donation in this final month of our fundraising campaign. If you haven't already donated, please consider making a donation by June 30th. Your support will make it possible for WFCM to start our new fiscal year strong on July 1st, providing groceries for thousands of individuals in western Fairfax County through the Chantilly and Centreville Free Food Markets, home delivery, and satellite-site Free Food Fridges.

Donate securely online at wfcmva.org/donate and select Spring Appeal 2026 or mail a check to WFCM at PO Box 220802, Chantilly, VA 20153.

Together, we can exceed our goal of $100,000 and serve more of our neighbors.

Thank you for your support!
