WFCM News For You

Executive Director's Update

During the month of April, I received great news from one of our WFCM clients. Eddy was at WFCM for his food appointment when he shared with me that he qualified for the Special Olympics USA Games for the first time. I've known Eddy for nearly six years since WFCM provided supplemental food in his neighborhood during the pandemic. Since that time, Eddy has lost both parents and he and his younger siblings have worked hard to maintain stable housing while working and attending school. Eddy told me he has been participating in Special Olympics VA for nearly 10 years since he was a junior at Westfield High School but considers going to the national games this June "a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Eddy is thankful for the support of his brother and sister as he trains for his Track & Field events and I was happy to see him select nourishing food to help provide energy for him as he trains! Eddy shared this message with me to share with WFCM friends and supporters, "It is important to be active and do something fun and I am glad for opportunities like this for people with disabilities. I want to encourage the next generation to participate – to get involved and meet people. I am proud to do it. I encourage community members to sign up, volunteer, and donate.” You can learn more and donate to Special Olympics VA at https://www.specialolympicsva.org/sports/team-virginia.

Congratulations and good luck, Eddy!

Your partnership is critical and impactful as we work with community members like Eddy, helping people to remain safely housed with food to prepare meals. Thank you!

God bless,

Harmonie Taddeo, Executive Director

Together We Can Do It!

Thank you to everyone who donated during the first month of WFCM's Spring Fundraising Appeal. Thus far, we've received $74,000 in donations!

We have a new matching pledge to announce! In addition to the $40,000 matching gift from a family in Centreville, WingSwept has committed to match up to $10,000 in new funds donated during the spring appeal that ends June 30, 2026.

If you haven't already donated, please consider making a donation this month. Your support makes it possible for WFCM to provide groceries for thousands of individuals in western Fairfax County through the Chantilly and Centreville Free Food Markets, home delivery, and satellite-site Free Food Fridges.

Donate securely online at wfcmva.org/donate and select Spring Appeal 2026 or mail a check to WFCM at PO Box 220802, Chantilly, VA 20153.

Together, we can achieve our goal of $100,000 to serve our neighbors.

Thank you for your support!
