It's Cookie Time!
Do you enjoy baking? We are aiming for over 500 dozen cookies to treat our guests at Walk Through Bethlehem. It’s hard to believe, but we are only about six weeks away, and we need your help. Cookies will be collected in the narthex before and after worship every Sunday. All cookies are welcome — tins, boxes, packaged, and store-bought. Homemade cookies should be in Ziploc-type freezer bags. We’ve got plenty of freezer space to maintain freshness. Thank you!

WFPC Nurture Freezer
The Nurture Freezer (located in the room beside the kitchen in the CLC) has been restocked! The WOW Group (Women of the Word) has made lots of baked ziti casseroles and chicken pot pies.
If you know of a family or an individual who could benefit from having a meal taken to them, then please take something from the freezer. They do not have to be members of our congregation to receive a meal. Deacons, please use the freezer for your branch members.
It's easy enough to access the freezer on Sunday mornings, or stop by the office during the week. Directions for heating and the ingredients that were used are listed on top of the pan. If you have any questions, contact Lucy Deeprose at lddeeprose@gmail.com.

Prep for Worship
We are excited to share with our young disciples just why and how we do what we do when we gather to worship together! The Prep for Worship Class helps them understand and take ownership of their worship time, and it helps them better understand the way we do things at WFPC! Topics covered in this class will include: Who, Why and How We Worship; Worship Symbols and Parts of the Christian Year; Baptism and Communion; and Types of Prayer.
A single session will be held on Sunday, October 27, from 11:00-1:00 (parents, drop children with Amy and Katherine immediately after worship and pick them up in the CLC at 1:00). A simple lunch will be provided. Lunch will be nut-free, but if your child has significant dietary needs, please let us know and feel free to provide a lunch for your child. Please register your child below.

All Saints' Day
November 3
In early Christian tradition, saints’ days began as a way to mark the anniversary of a martyr’s death, their "birthday” as a saint. By the middle of the church’s first millennium, there were so many martyrs (particularly due to the persecution of Diocletian) that it was hard to give them all their due. All Saints’ Day was established as an opportunity to honor all the saints, known and unknown.
All Saints’ Day has a rather different focus in the Reformed tradition. While we may give thanks for the lives of particular luminaries of ages past, the emphasis is on the ongoing sanctification of the whole people of God. Rather than putting saints on pedestals as holy people set apart in glory, we give glory to God for the ordinary, holy lives of the believers in this and every age. This is an appropriate time to give thanks to members of the community of faith who have died in the past year. We also pray that we may be counted among the company of the faithful in God’s eternal realm.
All Saints’ Day has been celebrated on November 1 since the year 835. Previously it had been connected with the Easter season as a feast of all martyrs.
At WFPC we will observe All Saints’ Day in worship on Sunday, November 3, at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. We will recognize the WFPC members we have lost in the last year: Marcia Rhoten, Benny Hoots, Don McCorkle, and Don Shupe, and extend a special invitation to their families to join us that morning. Rev. Marguerite will be joined in the pulpit by Karen Sperati of Stephen Ministry and Lynette Wilson of Dementia Caregivers to explore the unique gifts and challenges of the grief journey following any significant loss.

It's Time!

Not all the poinsettias will be available at the end of advent season. If you plan to take a poinsettia , please do so after the 11:00 p.m. Christmas Eve service or following the January 5 Sunday service.

November 10, Dedication Sunday
We will celebrate the Generosity of our membership’s pledges of time, talent and treasure, and then celebrate our veterans with a luncheon afterwards. We will also have a group of children receiving their bibles after listening, learning and understanding more about how, when, and why we worship as we do through the Prep for Worship class.

Psalm 67; Luke 7:11-17; Sermon: Grace and Gratitude
November 24, Hymn Sing
Mark your calendars now and plan to join us in worship on Sunday, November 24, at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary for a celebratory hymn sing. Andre Esguerra will offer a homily on spiritual gratitude, and we will select 4-5 hymns and songs that will fill our hearts with joy and thanksgiving, in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday. Come join the celebration!

Dementia Caregiver Class
Our November meetings will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Please note that, in-person attendees, this is the second Wednesday in November instead of the third Wednesday. The topic is Effective Communication for Difficult Conversations. Difficult conversations frequently involve high stakes, strong emotions and opposing opinions. Tips on how to get the most from these conversations to meet your needs and those of your loved one.
The in-person class is from 10:00 until noon in Room B017 of the CLC. The same class will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. via Zoom. Classes are open to anyone who is interested in learning more about care for individuals with any type of dementia. There is no need to let anyone know that you are going to attend. Those who wish to attend the Zoom class and are not already on our mailing list may contact Pat Snyder via email (patsnyder137@gmail.com) to receive a link for the class. You may also view videos about dementia, including past classes, on Pat’s YouTube channel at Pat Snyder - YouTube or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrjzZYVyeopBjaslMmCLH3g. Christmas Angels Ministry
It’s time to think about Christmas giving!
Christmas Angels are both the WFPC families who will provide gifts and God's children who will receive them through our Christmas Angels project. This year we will again be supporting both Wake County NRC and Franklin County, and we have committed to gifts for 40 children. All of us at WFPC will have the opportunity to show our love and compassion for families in our community.
The Angels tree will be set up in the narthex and will be adorned with -- you guessed it! -- angels. A SignUpGenius will be used to select children's gift requests. Watch TreeMail Connections on November 19 and FaceBook's WFPC Group Page for the link to the SignUpGenius starting Tuesday, November 19. Watch the Sunday bulletins for more information.
YOU are welcome to join the Christmas Angels Ministry team with set up, prep & take down, or collecting/sorting/delivering gifts! To join us or to ask questions, contact Carol Winans-Geiser, 908-803-3127 (carol@winans.com).

Giving in Trust -- Growing in Joy!
The 2025 Commitment Campaign is underway and will conclude on Sunday, November 10. The WFPC budget for next year is ~$885,000. To reach this figure, the commitment needed from each family unit is an additional $25.00 per month over and above last year’s give (less than one trip to a fast-food restaurant each month!).
How can we achieve this goal -- By Giving in TRUST!
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust in Him; and he shall bring it to pass.”-Psalm 37:5
To ‘Grow in Joy!’ please take a few minutes to prayerfully fill out the Commitment Card, and as you are able, increase your giving by an additional $25.00 per month over the previous year’s donation. You can also note the Time and Talents you can offer as well. If you have not made a commitment, please give this prayerful consideration. You can fill out an online pledge (see link above or use the QR Code at the top right of the Commitment Card you received in the mail) or bring your Card on Sunday November 10, and place it in the basket during the offering.
As always, if you have any questions reach out to Lisa Solomon (rltbsolomon@gmail.com) or Marty Wakefield (wkfldmad@twc.com) -- Elders for Generosity.
