Preschool Registration Season

The Wake Forest Presbyterian Preschool ministry offers a Christian, developmentally appropriate half-day program for two year olds through the transitional kindergarten class. Weekday classes are offered from 9:15-12:15 September through May. Weekly music and movement classes plus chapel time are offered. Optional lunch bunch is available up to three days a week for the four and five year old classes. Our students learn through play and lots of hands-on classroom activities. Centers in classrooms allow for independent exploration and discovery.

Registration for the '25-'26 school year is January 21-24 for current students and siblings. Registration for church members and open community is January 27-29. You can register online by visiting the church website at wakeforestpres.org/preschool. Click "registration/forms" at the bottom of the website. Contact Dawn Brown at 919-488-1820 or preschooldirector@wakeforestpres.org if you would like to join the fun or have questions.

Holiday Worship Services

Christmas Eve

Please join us today at WFPC to celebrate the birth of the Christ child. We will light candles during the singing of Silent Night at all three services. The Christmas Eve services will not be livestreamed, but the 7 p.m. service will be recorded and posted on YouTube for those who have to miss it. Childcare will be available at the 7 p.m. service.

Christmas Eve Services

3 p.m. Family Service led by Katherine Peiper and Amy Cebrick, assisted by the families and children of the church and the Alleluia Choir. No childcare. Children are invited to participate!

7 p.m. Lessons and Carols led by Pastor Marguerite assisted by the Praise Team and the Chancel Choir. Childcare provided.

11 p.m. Communion and Carols led by Pastor Marguerite. No childcare.

December 29

Then, plan to join us on December 29 for a Service of Lessons and Laughter led by our own Rev. Amy Allridge. This non-traditional service, patterned after a Lessons and Carols service, will not be livestreamed. If you can’t make it to church on December 29, tune in to the church’s Youtube channel for a New Year’s message from Pastor Marguerite.

Epiphany Season

Epiphany in our reformed tradition is the celebration of God’s manifestation to the world in Jesus Christ. We celebrate the revelation of God’s promise and purpose to the nations of the world, as the magi came from the East to worship the Christ child, and God’s covenant of grace is extended to all.

Epiphany will be celebrated in worship on January 5. After the service on January 5, we will be taking down the Christmas decorations throughout the church. Please stay after the service to help if you can. Many hands make light and fun work.

The following Sunday, January 12, we will celebrate the Baptism of the Lord and we will ordain and install our new class of officers in worship.

The Epiphany season ends the Sunday before Ash Wednesday (March 2) when we celebrate the Transfiguration of the Lord. Baptism and transfiguration bookend the Epiphany with the two key events that center on the revelation of Jesus as the Messiah.

The liturgical color for the Epiphany season is green, but you will see white paraments used between Christmas and Baptism of the Lord Sunday and then again on Transfiguration of the Lord Sunday. We’ll have purple paraments again for the Season of Lent.

The rest of the Epiphany season features the sermon series, “Say What?” in which Pastor Marguerite will take some well-meaning platitudes people often say (like, “He/she’s in a better place”), and will offer to us what the Bible may say to that. Thanks to those of you who contributed your “toxic platitude” suggestions for the series!

Outreach

Reflections

Coming to this Christmas Eve, the Outreach Ministries team is reflecting on the past year and on our efforts to follow Jesus, to spread His name in our community. We are thankful for the people and the efforts behind each ministry. We appreciate the volunteers and supporters, in the congregation and in the community, who have stepped up to enhance WFPC’s presence in our community. Most importantly, His light shines bright from the ministry’s activities and the people who support them. Thank you to all who have participated. We wish you safe, happy, memorable celebrations this Christmas time. Let us remember, Jesus is the reason for the season!

Merry Christmas from Carol, Kathy, and the Outreach Ministries team!
