Leading WFPC Into the Future

The Officer Nominating Team Wants to Hear from You!

The Officer Nominating Team has begun the process of seeking those who are called to serve Wake Forest Presbyterian Church as Deacons and Elders. Deacons serve for a three-year term and Elders serve for a two-year term beginning in January 2026. The ONT is seeking names from the congregation for those with the passion, skills, and experience for building up the community and helping to lead our ministries. If you are sensing God’s call to serve, a self-nomination is also appropriate.

All recommendations are appreciated and will be considered, but recommending a name to the Nominating Team does not mean they will be selected to serve at this time in the life of the church. Nomination forms will be available in the Narthex and names can be submitted online by clicking here and entering your nominations.

Outreach

Adult Mission Trip to Western NC

If all works out, we will have 16 (our largest team ever!) adults traveling to Canton, NC, April 27-May 2 to aid Baptists on Mission to rebuild homes damaged by Helene. Our work will be general carpentry and construction projects. We will be hosted by Crestview Baptist Church in Canton. Unfortunately, PDA (Presbyterian Disaster Assistance) will not yet be set up to host that week.

Please pray for our team: Phil Blalock, Andre Esguerra, Elizabeth Esguerra, Trish Floyd, Carol Geiser, Judy Finch Ide, Janet Lowe, Rick Mohlmann, Randy Parrish, David Patton, Ginny Poulsen, Kevin Sharpe, Hugh Terrell, Marty Wakefield, Teri Wendel, and Mindy Wilkie.

Prayers requested for safe travels, God guiding them to be the hands and feet of Christ, being a blessing to those they serve, and that they, too, will be blessed by the experience.

Backpack Buddies Luncheon with Guest Speakers on May 4 following worship

Backpack Buddies is hosting a lunch to raise awareness about kids and hunger. We will be serving fried chicken, coleslaw, and potato salad. Please join us afer church on May 4. We hope to see you there!

The WFPC Backpack Buddies Ministry plays a vital role in providing food and resources to children in need at three local schools within our community.

We welcome you to join us in the CLC at 9:30, the second Saturday of the month, to help pack the weekend food bags. The next packing even is May 10.

Unfortunately, we are currently facing challenges in keeping up with the demand, and we are reaching out to you for support.

We are kindly asking for your donations, whether monetary or non-perishable food items, to help ensure we can continue to serve these children and their families.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.

A BPB Bin is in the Donation Closet and keep your eye out for the BPB Donation Wagon in the Narthex.

Suggested Non-Perishable Food Items:

• Canned soups and stews

• Canned vegetables and fruits

• Canned chicken, tuna, chili

• Granola bars, crackers, and snacks

• Cereal and oatmeal

If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please mark your donation for “Backpack Buddies” and place it in the offering basket or donate through Breeze on our church website, selecting ‘Give to Backpack Buddies’ in the dropdown. Your generosity will help ensure our local children continue to receive weekend food bags, and we are deeply grateful for your support.

Let’s continue to share God’s love with those in need.

Dementia Caregivers Class

Please note that our May meeting will be on May 14, which is the second Wednesday, and will only be via Zoom from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. There will be no in-person class in May. These changes are to accommodate our speaker, Dr. Trey Bateman, who is currently employed at Wake Forest Health in Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. Bateman will be sharing the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment particulars for Lewy Body and Frontotemporal dementias. Different dementias require different diagnostic procedures and differences in medical management. It is wise that caregovers learn about other dementias since autopsies reveal that as many as 76% of dementia patients have a mixed form, whether it has been diagnosed officially or not.

Those who wish to attend the Zoom class and are not already on our mailing list may contact Pat Snyder via email (patsnyder137@gmail.com) to receive a link for the class. You may also view videos about dementia, including past classes, on Pat’s YouTube channel at Pat Snyder - YouTube or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrjzZYVyeopBjaslMmCLH3g.
