INITIATIVE FOUNDATION

405 1st St SE

Little Falls, MN 56438

www.ifound.org

It was truly serendipity that when I reached out to talk to our newest member, Carl Newbanks, from the Initiative Foundation (IF), that I was just reading up on the PROMISE grant to communicate the details of that to you. The monies is funded by the Minnesota Legislature and The Initiative Foundation is managing that grant process (see below).

You may have been hearing a lot about IF, as there was just a story about it in our BHM Insider School newsletter. The new President there is Montrose native Brian Voerding, a BHM graduate! The Initiative Foundation is an organization dedicated to supporting the people, businesses and organizations of a 14-county region in Central Minnesota, which Wright County is a part of. They are a Certified Development Lending Institution that works to create economic opportunity by lending or granting funds to locally owned businesses and non-profits. Have you received their IF magazine? It's filled with inspirational stories from people/businesses and how they grew thanks to the Foundation.

Talking with Carl, IF wants to have more of a presence int he communities they serve, and being a Chamber member will help do that! Welcome! Be sure to seek Carl out as he will be attending the State of the City luncheon next month!

WHEN IT'S OK TO BE CLINGY

As you are out and about do you make a purpose to do business with only other Chamber members? Do you recognize and thank the businesses that are fellow members? When you walk in the door of a business- take note - do they have a Chamber member window cling?

Maybe you need your nails done for Easter? Or summertime is around the corner (somewhere) and you need to spruce up your feet! Try Kay Nails in the Walmart strip. They have great service and lots of options for men and women to pamper themselves!

SUE SAYS

PROMISE ACT GRANT - BE SURE TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT - YOU MAY QUALIFY!

Though I sent this out via email last week, it's too important not to mention it here as well! This is something many could be eligible for, so please click the link and read through the eligibility requirements.

There is $1.1 million in grants for small businesses in Central MN – which includes Wright County. The PROMISE Act is funded by the MN Legislature and provides one time grants ranging from $10-$50K. This is not a first come first served, so you have until April 10th to apply. Its goal is to drive fair economic recovery in our region by helping small, rural, and minority owned businesses who find it difficult to access capital and resources. There will be another round available later this year or in early 2025, so there is an opportunity to apply again if you don’t receive the funds this round. Flexible low interest loans are also available to qualifying businesses.

It is for businesses with $750,000 or less in gross revenue that received $10,000 or less in pandemic relief grants (outside of PPP loans) from the state AND can show via your tax filings, a decrease in gross revenue or net income from 2021 to 2022. The grants can be used for regular current or past-due expenses such as working capital, payroll, rent/mortgage, utilities, equipment, inventory and more.

I printed off the application. It is not long. They say a half hour to an hour if you had all of the necessary documents which is your tax returns, proof of operating business and ID etc… Our new member, the Initiative Foundation is managing this grant process.

ANOTHER GREAT BCT PERFORMANCE TO BE HAD! April 5-7 and April 12-14

Discovery School Auditorium

Tickets here: www.BCTMN.org

Enchanted April is a period comedy based on the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim. Feeling lost in the shadows of marriage and forgotten in the rush of 1920s post-war society, two London housewives pool their savings to rent a villa in Italy for a ladies-only holiday away, reluctantly recruiting a pair of difficult upper-class women to share the cost and the experience. Together under the Mediterranean sun, the four women clash — and then begin to bond and bloom — until men once again upset the balance.
