If you’ve gotten a FREE ticket from us, that just makes the adventure that much better. | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | Aug. 15 Becki is repeating, with a few new twists, her Beginner Binding Class. Some of the students asked for a repeat so they could absorb more info., and some couldn’t make the first class date. Don’t miss it this time. You will have time to develop that muscle memory recall, and to practice during the class. | | Have you seen the French Rose quilt in the classroom? Learn the technique in the class, make enough blocks for a full quilt, or make two for a couch pillow, or even one larger one for a denim jacket back panel. To me, it has that antique look with a more modern twist, and can be soft and subtle or wild and crazy, depending on your fabric choices. Belinda is our new instructor for this quilt, and she taught it previously in her shop in Big Bear, California, where it was a huge hot hit . Picture this as a table topper next to BERNINA’s new Liberty machine on the floor, in stock now! I have a new blouse entirely made of soutach which puts me in the mind of the French Rose pattern. I wore the blouse at BU and got lots of compliments ! The class is Aug. 17 and 18, and it has a supply list, so sign and pay to reserve your spot. I think you’ll like the adaptability of the technique. | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | Aug. 21 Becki is back to teach Free Motion Quilting on your domestic machine! Be sure to ask about and try the one tool that works perfectly for me! It’s the Martelli Quilt Hoop, 8” or 11”, depending on the throat opening of your machine. If that doesn’t suit you, we have Martelli paddles. They work like a charm for me, although I do prefer the circle. This one tool has allowed me to do pebbles and any other design I choose, and do it smoothly and quickly without stress. I use the BSR to regulate the stitch length, and instead of grabbing the sides of the quilt (I’ve been told numerous times NOT to do this, but I just HAVE to do it that way!!!), I press down on the “handles” of the Martelli. Sorry, Becki, I don’t mean to horn in on your class, but sometimes what works for me is just too hot to keep to myself!!! Becki is a great instructor, and has been working with the Martelli I think, in order to demo. it for you. Check it out. | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | A 3 day class for new sewing people is at the end of the month with Andi. It’s called Jumpstart, as in “Jumpstart your quilting”…great way for beginners to learn the easy, right way first rather than have to unlearn a lot of more confusing or tedious techniques. You will start 8-28 from 1-4 pm, Sat. all day, then finish up Sunday from noon to 3:30. Your quilt sampler should be finished, and you will feel very proud of what all you have learned. | | Click on the Picture for more Information | | That’s all for now, except to tell you that I’ll be out for a few days having my shoulder replaced. It will be the newer Jiffy Procedure, and I’ll be happy to fill you in when I get back. The people who have had knee replacement done by “Jiffy” have done remarkably well, remarkably quickly.
