WHAT'S THE BUZZ?
Hello Theatre Lovers

My husband and I had a date night last week, covid-style, and I thought I would share the photo! Yes, we had our masks on, but don’t you agree that it is so great to be able to get out a bit more now? It’s hard to believe that we are in week 23 of our “Work from Home” mode! Way back on March 13th I thought maybe we would be out for 2-3 months. Here we are 6 months later! I truly hope you are all well and that you are feeling some relief in this Stage 3 we are in.
Many companies have been hit very hard by the pandemic. Many are not financially surviving. Theatre companies are facing the reality that we will be the last to be operational again. I want to take this time to once again thank all of you who have made donations to help us survive. You truly believe in this company! We are doing all that we can to keep Theatre Collingwood afloat (including moving our office) and I am determined to visit with you once again at a Theatre Collingwood show in the future. We are in a difficult situation right now as we have no ticket sales at all. If you are able to help us out financially, this would be the time to do it. Please consider turning any tickets you have into a donation. Remember that we are a not-for-profit theatre company with charitable status, and we can give you a tax receipt. Our expenses remain while our sales have dwindled. Thank you for your consideration! Please call the office at 705-445-2200 to help.
ONLY 2 MORE TICKETS LEFT FOR OUR SUNDAY, AUGUST 23rd. EVENT!
PLEASE HELP US TO SELL OUT

Thank you to everyone who has bought their tickets for SUNDAY IN THE “VINEYARD” WITH GEORGE! The event is THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON. We have only 2 more tickets left and we really want to sell each and every ticket. Can you help us to make this a SOLD OUT event, and purchase our last 2 tickets? It is truly going to be a wonderful, very safe, special event in the vineyard!

Sunday in the Park with George, the award winning musical by Stephen Sondheim, is the inspiration for this special 2020 Theatre Collingwood event. The creators of the musical were inspired by the French pointillist painter George Seurat’s painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, as are we! In place of the seaside, imagine vineyards and willow trees. We are all so excited to be presenting this wonderful opportunity for you to visit Georgian Hills Vineyard with us for a really safe and very entertaining event in support of Theatre Collingwood. Join us for an afternoon of wine tastings and gourmet food pairings, as we pay tribute to our 36 years as Collingwood’s professional theatre company. Interesting fact: Sunday in the Park with George, opened on Broadway in 1984, the same year Theatre Collingwood was founded!

Event Date: Sunday, August 23rd, 2020
Time: 2-4pm (please arrive by 2pm)
Location: Outdoors under the willow trees of Georgian Hills Vineyard. This is a seated event with social distancing and the utmost of health and safety provided. Please bring a mask for indoor washroom use. Tables will be reserved for 2, 4, or 6 of your inner circle friends to be seated together.
Fundraiser Tickets: $150/pp + tax Include: 5 wine tastings and 5 gourmet appetizer pairings, plus great entertainment. Tickets also include an $80 tax receipt.

Let’s enjoy an afternoon together outside, overlooking the beautiful vineyard property, with close friends. We are thrilled to announce that our “George” will be Collingwood painter, John Burton, who will be painting live for us at the event. John has also generously offered to offer this painting for auction at the event! We are also delighted to announce that singer/musician, Aaron Solomon, will be entertaining us throughout the afternoon! Don’t miss this very special event and please feel free to dress inspired by George Seurat and his times, and don your favourite 1884 beach-side attire if you wish, or your most gorgeous sunhat, or a lovely parasol. Let’s celebrate being outdoors with friends, once again celebrating the arts. This beautiful afternoon outdoors is limited to 50 people for your comfort. In these extremely trying time for the arts community, we thank you for supporting Theatre Collingwood by purchasing your ticket to this event (even if you cannot attend). For tickets call 705-445-2200 or email info@theatrecollingwood.ca.

BOX OFFICE UPDATE

We are in the midst of our BOX OFFICE move, and quite excited about the new space. Anne, Linda, and Valerie have been moving much of our stuff over to the new office. I love the beautiful colour that Anne painted our new foyer! We will open September 1st at our new location, 150 St. Paul Street, Suite 201. This is a second floor unit. Please note that if you cannot manage the stairs, we will have a door bell you can ring and we will happily come down to you during business hours (Monday to Friday 10am-5pm). And, as usual, you can always phone or email us. We look forward to showing you our new space, and remember that parking is FREE at the new office (which shares the parking lot with the Catholic Church).
We would like to RECOGNIZE Karen Eluck as she retires from our Board of Directors. Karen has been an amazing board member and Chair. We will miss her and thank her very much for her continuing support.

A special WELCOME goes out to our newest Board Member, Rob Hart. Rob brings a wealth of experience to our board, including his experience working in marketing for the Mississauga Living Arts Centre. Check out Rob and all our Board Members on our website at:

Theatre Collingwood believes this project is long overdue and we look forward to the day when we can entertain you in a world class performance space. Check out the group at https://collingwoodarts.com/register/ . The Town of Collingwood Council has approved a feasibility study which will begin before the end of the year.
THE STAGE DOOR - TONIGHT AT 7PM
Have you been watching our Facebook Live show? August 19th will mark our 4th show. It has been so much fun and I want to thank The Town of Collingwood, Tanya Mazza, and Tyler Cleary for allowing me to spend time with them on this show. We are planning to do 8 shows in this series, and they run every second week. Our guests this Wednesday will be my dear friend, artist, designer, and theatre volunteer Kathryn Huycke, and the very talented Micah Barnes (musician and past member of the a cappella group The Nylons). This is a one hour look behind the scenes. Please check us out at the Simcoe Street Theatre Facebook page. If you would like to watch our previous show #3 with Leisa Way you can find it at:
