Hello Theatre Lovers

I hope you are all feeling well and enjoying the beautiful summer weather! At Theatre Collingwood we are working hard to care for your theatre company. In doing so, we have made the decision to move our Box Office to a new location that will be more affordable for us. On September 1 st we will officially open our Box Office at 150 St. Paul Street, Unit 201. This space is just around the corner from our current space and has FREE parking. Our offices will be on the second floor so if you have any mobility issues just feel free to call us and we will always come downstairs to you!
The Stage Door

This week I completed my second Facebook Live show on the Simcoe Street Theatre Facebook page, with guests Candy Pryce from Theatre Georgian Bay, and actor, singer, director Thom Allison who even performed live on the show. Our next show will be at 7pm on August 5 th and will include Rochelle Reynold from Quarter Century Theatre and Theatre Collingwood fave, Leisa Way. The show is called The Stage Door and we hope you will join us.
Theatre Collingwood has received an Ontario Government Student Summer Employment Grant to hire one student or new grad! Now you may be thinking “but summer is almost over”. The government has extended this position to run till the end of December if need be. At this time we cannot take a student into the office, so work will be mostly done from home. This is a position for a mature theatre student who is passionate about theatre, with a keen interest in diversity and inclusion. We are looking for someone who can also help us develop our social media, as well as help us develop our programming to be more reflective of all audience members. If interested call Anne at 705-445-2200.
Sunday in the Park with George , the award winning musical by Stephen Sondheim, will be the inspiration for a special 2020 Theatre Collingwood event. The creators of the musical were inspired by the French pointillist painter George Seurat’s painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte , as are we! Picture yourself in that painting, but In place of the seaside imagine vineyards and willow trees!

Join Theatre Collingwood at the beautiful property of Georgian Hills Vineyards for an afternoon of wine tastings and gourmet pairings, as we pay tribute to our 36 years as Collingwood’s professional theatre company. Interesting fact: Sunday in the Park with George , opened on Broadway in 1984, the same year Theatre Collingwood was founded!

Event Date: Sunday, August 23rd, 2020

Time: 2-4pm (please arrive by 2pm)

Location: Outdoors under the willow trees of Georgian Hills Vineyard. This is a seated event with social distancing and the utmost of health and safety provided. Please bring a mask for indoor washroom use. Tables will be reserved for 2, 4, or 6 of your inner circle friends to be seated together.

Fundraiser Tickets: $150/pp + tax - Include 5 wine tastings and 5 gourmet appetizer pairings, entertainment, and a few secrets. Tickets also include an $80 tax receipt.

Inspired by the painting’s French theme, enjoy an afternoon overlooking the vineyard property with close friends, enlightening music, and delicious taste treats. All this while feeling certain that the utmost of care has been provided to keep you happy and safe. Feel free, if you wish, to dress inspired by George Seurat and the times, don your favourite 1884 beachside attire if you wish, your most gorgeous sunhat or a lovely parasol, and celebrate being outdoors with friends once again celebrating the arts. This beautiful afternoon outdoors is limited to 50 people for your comfort.
In these extremely trying time for the arts community, we thank you for supporting Theatre Collingwood by purchasing your ticket to this event (even if you cannot attend).
