WHAT'S THE BUZZ?
Hello Theatre Lovers,

Today we made the difficult decision to cancel the Asian Riffing Trio PORCHSIDE event that was planned for this coming Saturday, September 26th.

Thank you to all of you who bought a ticket. The announcement on the weekend from the Premier, lowering gathering limits in Ontario, meant we needed to have a conversation with the Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit. Our event is one that was unusual because it was a professional, staffed, outdoor event (which would mean we could have up to 100 people in attendance) but it was also being held in a private backyard (which would mean we could have only 25 people in attendance). The decision from the Health Unit was that we fell into the latter category. After getting this confirmation, and with the desire to maintain an abundance of caution, we decided to postpone the PORCHSIDE SERIES. I say “postpone” because it is my intention to present these lovely events in the spring or summer next year.
Our event was well planned and our team had the utmost of health and safety measures in mind. It has always been our intention at Theatre Collingwood to keep our artists, staff, volunteers, and patrons, safe at all times. I am sorry for any disappointment this has caused. If you have purchased tickets for the event you will hear from our Box Office regarding your refund.

Chris Tsujiuchi and the Asian Riffing Trio are real favourites of mine. We will definitely find another opportunity to present their show to you! I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Anita and David Hearn who offered their beautiful porch and backyard for this event.
Another favourite of mine is Theatre Orangeville’s Artistic Director, David Nairn! David was a guest on our Facebook Live show, The Stage Door, last week. During this crazy year David has been doing cocktail mixology lessons on line for his audience. There may even be a book coming out with his recipes. I was so thrilled when he decided to give us a class at the end of his interview! He also said he would deliver one of these drinks to me, which I am still waiting for! David is such an interesting theatre person and it was really a joy to have him on the show. Next show: Sept. 30th.
Last week we had the pleasure of going out to Blue Mountain Resort to receive a cheque in support of Theatre Collingwood. BMR has been a loyal supporter of Theatre Collingwood for some 36 years, starting when Barbara Weider was one of the founders of the theatre company. The generosity of Blue Mountain Resort has enabled Theatre Collingwood to continue to PUT MORE PLAY IN YOUR LIFE! Thank you to BMR, Carla Fox-Jackson, and to photographer Dave West.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support and understanding. We will be back to you soon with our next newsletter and more ideas to keep you entertained. In the meantime, check out our friend PLUTO!
