WHAT TO GET AMERICA FOR HER BIRTHDAY |

On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence, announcing our separation from Great Britain, a hostile superpower who was not about to take this news well.
It was a wild act of breathtaking courage. We knew that in declaring the birth of our democracy, we may have signed our own death warrant.
You can hear that thought under the final words: And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
Today, our democracy’s survival is again in question. Let our answer again be pledging everything we are and have to each other. How do we put that pledge into action?
By holding voter drives, in person and digitally! Expanding the electorate is the most direct way to make a difference, swing elections, and save our democracy.
So let’s get out there today, next week, and every week after, and register Democrats, wherever we are, wherever we can! Our Voter Drive in a Box makes in-person drives easy – and it’s fully ready for California, Arizona, and now Pennsylvania too! We’ll be rolling out more states every week. So please check it out, and put an in-person voter drive on the calendar. Don't forget to make sure it's Covid-safe here!

SATURDAY, JULY 10:
DEADLINE FOR DEMOCRACY MEDIA STORM
Congress needs to know about the overwhelming grassroots support for voting rights legislation – and on Saturday, July 10 from 10a-12p PT, we'll be taking to the interwebs to tell them. We'll be demanding action from our senators – Republicans and Democrats – with ready-made Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram assets proclaiming the urgency of passing the For The People Act. Stormers of all levels are welcome – we'll start with a short training for any newbies on the call. It's the most fun you can have while defending democracy! RSVP HERE!

BROOKLYN COMEDY FOR FT6!
We're laughing already!
The producers of Looking Forward To It with Josh Gondelman, a monthly comedy show that raises money for voter engagement, are holding their first in-person 2021 comedy show to raise money for Field Team 6!
Hosted by Josh Gondelman, with the following (subject to change) line up: Jes Tom, Negin Farsad, Larry Owens, a video from Dan Fox, and hip hop comedy improv from North Coast.
If you are anywhere on the eastern seaboard (or have lots of airline miles) we hope you'll put together a carpool or subway car of the fellow-vaxxed and head to the Littlefield Theater in Brooklyn. Sliding scale tickets available HERE!

BARBARA GRYGLASZEWSKI

This week we're shouting out FT6 Voterizer Updates Team Lead Barbara Gryglaszewski! She's a SoCal native, the adopted daughter of Polish immigrants, and a twin to boot! After a long career as an engineer and systems engineering manager specializing in GPS, radar, and guidance systems (among many other defense-centered projects), Barbara retired and threw herself into volunteer work. While working to register the voters who eventually elected Katie Porter (CA-45) and Harley Rouda (CA-48) in 2018, she met Jason and got involved in some early texting campaigns. In September of 2020, Barbara joined FT6 as a state check volunteer for Voterizer, then became the coordinator for English Voterizer state checks and updates! She's also done crucial database work for us in our partnership with They See Blue and beyond. Basically, Barbara does it all!
When she's not busy saving the world, Barbara can be found at home with her husband Jake (a naturalized citizen!) and their cat Natasha, or in her vegetable garden tending to tomatoes, spinach, arugula, and broccoli! She's also an avid traveler who loves to visit friends and family in Finland, Sweden, and Poland.
Here's what FT6 has meant to Barbara, in her own words:
I spent a year in Ireland at the University College Galway (now the National University of Ireland at Galway) after one year at UCLA. It was the most enlightening year of my life. The students were very active in politics at the national level. They understood they were an important voting bloc. Although as a U.S. citizen, I stayed out of their politics, it reinforced my belief that change can come through voting and that if you have the right to vote, it is your responsibility to exercise it... I signed up to do voter registration to have something to do when I retired. I wanted to instill the passion my parents had for voting into other people. I also wanted to do community service, so I joined the Rotary Club of Anaheim, a nonpolitical service organization. Between that and FT6, I cover my two goals for retirement, as far as service.
Thank you Barbara for your tireless dedication to Voterizer and FT6! We are so grateful to have you on the team. And that margarita looks delicious!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Field Team 6'ers, we've hit our fundraising goals in two out of our three targeted Orange Country House districts! We're currently standing up digital campaigns to register Democrats in CA-39 and CA-48, so we can flip those seats back to blue in 2022 and Save the House...
...but we're still $1,021 short of our goal in CA-45! And we absolutely must raise this money, because we're talking about the one and only Katie Porter! It is absolutely crucial that she win re-election in 2022. We've got to keep Katie in Congress so she can keep laying down the law and exposing the villains with her Whiteboard of Justice. TRUST THE VOTE
Rebuilding faith in America’s voting systems is a crucial project, one that the nonprofit Open Source Election Technology (OSET) Institute is tackling head-on with their new TrustTheVote Project. Their plan is to build the most verifiable, accurate, secure, and transparent voting software in the world, with the entire code base available online for anyone who wants to look under the hood.
OSET is trying to make this happen in time for the 2024 elections – and they need your help! If you believe that publicly owned and fully transparent election software is important for restoring trust in our democracy, please sign their petition HERE.
