COVID-19 UPDATE #50

DSHS PHASED REOPENING WEBINARS POSTPONED
The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) has worked to create a phased reopening plan for long term care facilities. They had hoped to share the plan and provide training on it for assisted living and skilled nursing providers on July 1 and 2. They have determined a need to postpone releasing the plan and providing training until they receive a final approval from the office of Governor Inslee. Please be sure to remove those events from your calendar if you had registered. We will notify members of the new training dates and share the plan as soon as it is provided to us. DSHS appreciates our patience as they work to help providers navigate the steps to reopening.
CBSI PROVIDES COVID-19 TESTING AND BILLING GUIDANCE FOR SNF PROVIDERS
Consolidated Billing Services Inc. (CBSI) has created a guidance document to assist skilled nursing providers in the areas of COVID-19 testing and billing. With recent updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding testing procedures, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding coding and billing, providers should ensure they are aligned with current protocols. The guidance covers all areas of testing and billing including, but not limited to, specimen collection, physicians orders, documentation, test results, MDS reporting, selecting proper lab services, laboratory billing, Medicare B billing, Medicare A billing, uninsured billing, Medicare Advantage billing, and new Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes. Click here to review the guidance. Many thanks to Bill Ulrich, President/CEO of CBSI for sharing expert guidance to assist skilled nursing providers as they navigate the ongoing challenges and changes associated with COVID-19.
