Aaron Larget-Caplan is currently collaborating with several composers on projects that expand the classical guitar repertory. He will begin his concert with the first of Vineet Shende's " Carnatic Preludes, After J.S. Bach," a re-imagining of Bach preludes from the Well-Tempered Clavier in a South Indian music tradition. This will be paired with Larget-Caplan's own arrangements of the original Bach prelude. Aaron will then do his arrangement of John Cage's "In a Landscape," followed by "The Legend of Hagaromo" by the Japanese composer Keigo Fujii. Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" will complete this highly original program, which takes us well beyond the standard classical guitar offerings. Don't miss it.

You can sign up for Aaron's master class to be conducted on Sunday, September 13, at 11:00 am at Music Village on Union Avenue. If interested, contact Jerry Snyder at:  jerry@sbgs.org

CONCERN FOR SPREAD OF THE NEW CORONAVIRUS RULES OUT OUR MONTHLY OPEN MIC SESSIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Normally, the society hosts an open mic once a month (except for December) at which guitarists of all ages and abilities try out their latest efforts in a welcoming atmosphere. You can perform or just enjoy the music. It is free of charge. We meet from 7 to 9 pm at San Jose's Vineland Library at 1450 Blossom Hill Road. We record the open mic performances and, if the guitarist agrees, post them on our YouTube and Facebook pages and on Instagram. Check out examples: OPEN MIC VIDEOS
