A Note from the Wound Healing Foundation’s Outgoing Chair

Kris Kieswetter, PhD, MBA, FAIMBE

"Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive, and forward-thinking organization that will continue to make a lasting difference in wound care and healing."

Dear All:

Congratulations to Margaret Halstead on becoming the Wound Healing Foundation’s Chair and welcome to our new Board members Dot Weir, Jeremy Bowden and Josh Tam.

It has been my distinct pleasure to have served as Chair over our 25th anniversary year.

The Wound Healing Foundation Board of Directors embraced my vision for expanding our organization’s role in the wound healing community. By increasing research grants and educational events and developing more extensive collaborative partnerships we relished the opportunity to positively impact wound healing for all stakeholders from researchers to clinicians to patients and beyond.

As an evolving organization, we’ve been proud to make significant progress in our journey to serve the broader wound healing community. During this past year we’ve:

  • Published a consensus document and submitted another for upcoming publication
  • Hosted Dr. Michael Morykwas, co-inventor of V.A.C.® Therapy as the 13th annual Hunt Lecturer at the Diabetic Limb Salvage with Wound Healing Foundation Meeting
  • Awarded ~ $50k for investigations to further wound healing science
  • Broadened the scope and engagement of our board
  • Increased our social media presence
  • Strengthened our governance by updating our bylaws

These accomplishments marked significant milestones in our journey. By staying true to our mission and embracing innovation, collaboration, and education, we aim to further empower the wound healing community and enhance the lives of those it serves.

Sincerely,

Kris
