From The Editors January 14th, 2020

In this first issue of British Columbia Golf's newsletter for 2020 one of the most intriguing topics as we start off this new decade is the implementation of the World Handicap System. There has and will continue to be, notifications distributed and questions answered on the subject as the general golf population becomes more aware of the new system. For now we have a link below to a simple set of videos to help anyone wanting to understand more about the WHS.

We have a succinct review of golf and how it unfolded in Canada during 2019 for your perusal, along with a reminder about tickets being on sale for the 2020 CP Canadian Women's Open happening at Vancouver's Shaughnessy GC this fall and you can also read about the upcoming 2020 LPGA Tour schedule with its record-breaking purse increase.

As much as it is always exciting to start a new year and in this case a new decade, we are still faced with the fact that human beings remain mortal and as such, unfortunately, we did experience the loss of some great friends in the game of golf in December and out of fully due respect we pay tribute to five individuals who sadly passed away last month. Our condolences go out to all family members and friends who have been affected by the passing of their loved ones.

And As always, if you have any thoughts or suggestions on topics you'd like to see appear going forward in your newsletter please send a message via the "Contact Us" button located on the top right of the BC Golf website home page.
