Annual Appeal: We Need Your Help!

The WHS PTSO provides financial support for a wide variety of programs and initiatives at WHS to enrich students' experiences at the school. We can only provide that support with your help. Please consider making a contribution today to the WHS PTSO using this link.

Our funding comes entirely from contributions from our community. Examples of how PTSO funds have recently been put to work at WHS for our students:

Funds awarded to help two new student clubs/activities at the school: Architecture Club and Building Cultural Bridges Program.
Grant awarded to a visual arts teacher to attend a workshop in a new technique that will be used with students. The technique has interdisciplinary application to science as well!
Support provided to welcome incoming 9th graders with WHS-branded materials on their first day.
Support provided to help sponsor upcoming author visit by Gene Luen Yang (see more below).

Next PTSO Meeting - October 18

Our next monthly PTSO meeting will be held tomorrow (October 18, 2021) at 10:00 am via Zoom.

Advance registration is necessary to receive the meeting link. We encourage you to share your questions when you register.

We are excited to offer presentations on a few different topics this month, including an update from Dr. Chisum, town-related initiatives and a primer on standards-based feedback at WHS. NEW! Support our School - In-Kind Contributions

The PTSO is always looking for new ways for members to get involved. Our newest initiative is to provide opportunities to make in-kind donations to our school. Make a big impact with a small commitment!

Use this link to sign up to donate items for some upcoming needs at WHS, such as a faculty Halloween reception, to create a "care closet" for our hard-working faculty and to support the Child Study Center (which was hit especially hard by Covid-19). In-kind donations should be placed in the labeled bins in the front vestibule at WHS.

Author Visit - Gene Luen Yang

WHS is excited to welcome author and illustrator Gene Luen Yang on Thursday, October 28 during tan and red blocks. Students should sign up for the visit if their English class is not already attending. Books may also be purchased in advance. See this flyer for more information and related links.

Friends of Wellesley METCO - Volunteer

Friends of Wellesley METCO, Inc. (FWMI) is an all-volunteer group of parents, teachers and community members whose mission is to support the educational experience of the METCO students in Wellesley Public Schools and build community between the Boston families in the program and Wellesley resident families.

FWMI is looking for volunteer board members, including people with interest in assisting with communications/social media/web presence, and to work on grant writing and maintaining the electronic supporter list. FWMI holds once per month board meetings as well as occasional opportunities during the school year to connect with students and families. FWMI is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Friends of Wellesley METCO - Support Marathon Runner

Friends of Wellesley METCO, Inc. (FWMI) long-time volunteer, Erica MacInnes, ran the 125th Boston Marathon on Monday to support FWMI. Two and a half years in the making, Marathon Monday was an unforgettable day for runners and spectators alike. There is still time to donate and share in her accomplishments by donating today. Your general donation contributes to supporting and enriching Boston and Wellesley students through various academic programming. To learn more about FWMI and to donate, please visit Erica's link. Wellesley Green Schools - Upcoming Meeting

You are invited to a Wellesley Green Schools get-together on Tuesday, October 19 from 10:00 - 11:30 am at 76 Cleveland Road (between Weston and Westgate).

Wellesley Green Schools is a collaborative group of caregivers, students and staff working together to reduce Wellesley schools' ecological footprints, and inspire students to create a healthy, sustainable world.

The meeting will take place outside so dress warmly while enjoying hot cider on the deck with blankets. If need be, the meeting will go inside (with masks). Topics include:

Learn about the Safe Routes to School program from Wellesley School Committee member Catherine Mirick.
Share what is important to you/your school community this academic year.
How can our school community help Wellesley meet its goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050?
