APRIL 2026

As I write this message today, I am reminded of the pastor who must reluctantly remind the congregation that the parish needs money.

Holy Family Radio is blessed to have faithful listeners and supporters but we are constantly concerned about our financial situation. You may recall that last Spring we did not hold a Fundraising Dinner. This Fall, we did not have a Pledge Drive because of our move to the new location. Now we're in a situation where we need to raise funds. I know that all of us are exhausted from all of the appeals from so many great causes that we support. Since our inception, Holy Family Radio has always been a shoestring operation. Now with higher expenses, we are at a point where we need to expand our financial base. I am asking you to consider inviting others to listen to Holy Family Radio. I believe that as we increase our listenership, we can increase the number of donors that we have. I really hate making financial requests, but our need is critical at this time.

We are starting our new Parish Partner Program to help us better serve our parishes. Please see the information about this exciting new program below.

We are planning several fundraising activities to help us raise the funds we need. We will be announcing the details soon, the meantime, please pray that our planning is successful. If you have any suggestions, please contact us. Thank you for being a member of the family here at Holy Family Radio!

The WHYF Parish Partner Program is a new initiative from Holy Family Radio designed to turn listeners into "Parish Ambassadors".

Program Goals and Responsibilities

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between WHYF and local Catholic parishes through several key objectives:

  • Two-Way Communication: Partners serve as a primary link, helping the station and parishes communicate more effectively.
  • Relationship Building: The program focuses on building closer ties so the station can better serve the needs of local parish communities.
  • Information Sharing:
  • To Holy Family Radio: Partners keep the station informed about local parish events and ministries.
  • To the Parish: Partners ensure that Holy Family Radio materials are updated and available at their parish, with the pastor's permission.

Key Details for Potential Volunteers

  • Role: Volunteers act as representatives within their own faith communities.
  • Mission: The broader mission is to use radio to nourish Catholic families and share the Faith with others.
  • Station Connection: The program is part of Holy Family Radio's expansion efforts to increase its listener reach and evangelization impact.
  • Communication: We we feature Parish Spotlight article submitted by Parish Partners on our Website and Newsletter.
  • Thanks: Parish Partners will receive a WHYF Shirt.

Spiritual Advisor's Corner

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Were you there? That question is asked in a great Lenten hymn, asking us if we were there when Jesus was nailed to the tree, when He died, and when He rose from the dead. Were you there?

Well, 2,000 years ago, we were not there. But it is not true to say we are not present at Jesus' Passion, Death and Resurrection, because we truly are! How can this be? Because at Mass, those events are brought to us today at the altar. We are brought right to the hill of Calvary, standing next to Mary and John. We are there. That is why we call it the Sacrifice of the Mass, because we are present for His Passion.

As we celebrate these earth-changing days, we thank God that He allows us to "Be There" with Him, and to walk with Him every step of the way, so that we can experience both the suffering, the Salvation of the Cross and the empty tomb. See you there.

Fr. Sahd

A Special Thank You!

As we all know, the success of Holy Family Radio is a result of the generosity of our faithful donors who have provided us with the funds that we need to pay our bills and for us to bring the Word of God to the people each day.

We want our donors to know how grateful we are for your ongoing generous support. Without you it would be difficult to continue this ministry. We are especially grateful to our monthly donors. Did you know that many of you have supported us since we went on the air almost 15 years ago?

Your generosity is remembered each day by Holy Family Radio. A Rosary is recited each day for the intentions of all of our donors. Our monthly donors are also remembered each morning and evening with the recitation of special prayers to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.

Thank you for bringing God’s Word to the people through Holy Family Radio.

Donate your vehicle to support Holy Family Radio

Holy Family Radio now has an easy-to-use program to alleviate all your woes in getting rid of ANY car, truck, RV, motorcycle, boat or trailer you have.  Our partner, Vehicles for Charity, can take it off your hands and Holy Family Radio will reward you with a tax benefit for the selling price of your donated vehicle!   It is fast, free, friendly and much better than a low cost trade-in or high repairs.  If you are thinking of selling or trading in that old car, why not donate it instead?  You can donate any vehicle from anywhere at anytime.  You will be free from ALL the paperwork from beginning to end.

It is simple... All you need to do is complete an online donation form on our website at 720WHYF.com or call Vehicles for Charity at 1-866-628-2277 and every detail will be handled for you. Please note that some restrictions may apply. Best of all, your donation makes a difference and will go a long way in helping Holy Family Radio in our mission of Nourishing our Catholic Family & Sharing Our Faith with Others.

Watch for more announcements about other events in May as we hold a fundraising campaign to raise money to help pay for our move to the Trinity High School campus. We will be sending out more information this month. God Bless and Happy Easter!

We are excited to be preparing for our Second Annual WHYF Night at the Ballpark. We will be seeing the Harrisburg Senators take on the Akron Rubber Ducks on May 23rd. The game starts at 7:00 PM at FNB Stadium on City Island. Because it is Memorial Day Weekend, there will be lots of fun things in store: Capital City Carnival, Boardwalk Bash, and at the end of great night will be fireworks. This is a great way to support WHYF and our local baseball team. For more information and to buy tickets for this event, use the Link below.

April: The Blessed Sacrament

Major Feast: Holy Thursday

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life; all of our works are oriented toward it. Jesus’ Body, Blood, Soul, and dDvinity are truly present in a small host. When we receive the Blessed Sacrament we unite ourselves to God and receive the life and healing He longs to give us.

Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta said: “The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven, and will help bring about everlasting peace on earth.”

How to celebrate: Spend time in Adoration or attend another Mass during the week in addition to your Sunday obligation.
