FEBRUARY 2023
February is the month in which we honor the Holy Family. I recently spent some time reflecting on this. Every day I say the words "Holy Family" when I am referring to this important apostolate. I must admit that I almost never really think about what I am really saying. The Holy Spirit inspired our founders to name this radio station after the Holy Family. This was no accident. I want to do a better job remembering that everything we do here is in honor of the Holy Family. This is OUR month to ponder this. Join me reflecting on this beautiful truth this month. We must all be reminded that the Church encourages us to look at the Holy Family for inspiration, example and encouragement. We all need to pray for grace of caring for one another in our own families, for each member of the parish family, and for all families of the Universal Church.

February is also a great time to pray for Holy Family Radio!

Update from Russ Fry
WHYF Community Relations Coordinator

Wow, where did January go? I was just getting past Christmas and the New Year festivities and now Groundhog Day and Valentine’s Day are upon us. Well, it just means that we are closer to Easter and Spring and warm weather again. It also means planning time for our Annual Fundraising Dinner. This year the dinner is on Friday, April 21st and we have booked the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel for the Gala. You will hear more about the Dinner over the next couple of months, but for now, get the date reserved on your calendar. You won’t want to miss this one!

There are a couple of additional surprises in store for this Spring, but you will have to wait until next month to find out about them. In the meantime, I will be visiting with several Knights of Columbus Councils to show our appreciation for their support over the years. These visits will continue well into the summer until we can get to everyone. By then, we will also be attending the Women Conferences and 50Plus Conferences. So come out and see us.

Father Timothy Sahd

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Lent begins later this month, and Christmas just ended. I feel like we just finished with one season, and now are beginning the heavy-duty season of Lent. Do we ever get a break?

That's Ordinary Time! It can seem so boring, but the purpose of Ordinary Time is to see the impact of Jesus' life and ministry (and His power through the Sacraments) through ordinary life. If we live the seasons of the Church with the Church, we can feel this power, and these times are special.

If we live our faith through the seasons of the big box stores or advertisements, we'd already be well past St. Patrick's Day and into Easter. That's exhausting. Let's live the life of the Church, meaning let's live Ordinary Time as best we can so that we can properly enter into Lent. If we live according to the calendar of the world, we'll already be past the "Back-to-School" days! When we live according to the Church calendar, we are properly preparing ourselves for the Sacred Feasts that are the highlights of our year: Easter and Christmas!
God bless you!
Fr. Sahd
