The end of 2023 was a challenging time for Holy Family Radio. As we begin 2024, I am reminded of Proverbs16:3- Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.
We are committed to this important apostolate and know that we can count on you for you continuing prayers and financial support.
As we begin the New Year, join me in this prayer:
Dear Lord,
We pray that this New Year will bring us closer to You.
May we take the time to get to know You.
Help us to truly celebrate the gifts You have graciously given us and use them to serve You and spread Your Word,
May we also see and love you in all the people we meet,
so that in turn, they can see You in us.
We know that all human relations take time if they are to grow and deepen.
This is also true of our relations with You, the Father and the Holy Spirit, which must grow over the course of our lives.
In this New Year, let us realize that every action of ours
no matter how great or small enables us to be in touch with You.
Let us accept You in our lives, in the way it pleases You,
as Truth, to be spoken,
as Life, to be lived,
as Light, to be lighted,
as Love, to be followed,
as Joy, to be given,
as Peace, to be spread about,
as Sacrifice, to be offered among our relatives, friends, neighbors and all people.
Amen.

Update from Russ Fry
I hope that everyone had a great Christmas and that a wonderful New Year is in store for you. We at Holy Family Radio are very grateful to our listeners for their support during our computer crisis last month. We were able to purchase a new automation computer, with minimal time off the air, thanks to several of our generous and devoted supporters. As we have said many times, without you, there would be no Holy Family Radio!
It is with much hope and optimism that we enter the New Year. We have many challenges to overcome, but with your continued support, we will be successful in our modernization efforts, meet our monthly expenses and continue to grow our listener and support base. Successfully doing those things will enable us to continue our mission of evangelization in the Central PA region. Getting the Good News of Christ out to as many people as possible is our goal!
You can help us to meet that goal with your continued financial support and your prayers. God bless all of you in the New Year and may Christ be in your heart, always!

Spiritual Advisor's Corner
Father Timothy Sahd
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
There are 10 Americans who have been declared Saints in the Roman Catholic Church. What is beautiful is that three of them lived and breathed within 80 miles of us here in the Diocese: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. John Neumann and St. Katharine Drexel. What a blessing!
In the beginning of this month, we celebrate two of OUR saints: Seton is commemorated on Jan. 4, and Neumann on Jan. 5. It is hard to believe that saints could have lived so close to us!
What is even more true, though, is that they are much closer than miles. Because of the Mass, where Heaven meets Earth, the Saints and Angels, and most importantly, Our Lord, are present. At each Mass, the Communion of Saints is present. This image is most evident at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels in Los Angeles. It's a modern Cathedral, but the beauty is inside on the many tapestries that line the walls. In those, dozens and dozens of Saints face the Altar, almost in a Communion line. They are present there, and here!
Thanks be to God for the gift of the Saints. They are models of how to live a Christian Life. Thank them, too, for their intercession for us. They are with us at every Mass! St. John Neumann and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us!
Fr. Sahd

January
January is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus and it is a time to meditate on the power and beauty of His Name. We can honor the Name of Jesus by praying the Divine Praises, reciting the Rosary, participating in the Eucharistic Adoration, and celebrating the feast of the Holy Name of Jesus.
We can also practice acts of charity in the Name of Jesus, and make it a point to remember His Name and speak it with reverence and love.
The Holy Name of Jesus is a powerful and beautiful name that brings healing and hope to all who call upon it. It is a name that is filled with love, mercy and grace. It is a name that brings comfort and peace and a name that is filled with power and authority. Jesus, the Son of God, is the one true source of hope, healing, and salvation. He is the only One who can bring us into the right relationship with God.
The abbreviation of IHΣΟΥΣ, the Greek for ‘Jesus’, in the form ΙΗΣ ("IHS") appears in manuscripts from the second century, but it was in the Middle Ages that devotion in these took off.

Volunteer Mike Creavey welcomed his new son on December 11, 2023. Danny (Daniel Patrick Creavey) was born ten days earlier than anticipated! He was 8 lbs 2 oz, 19.5 inches long. All are doing well. We wish him heartfelt congratulations on this new addition to the Creavey family!

Why should you never lose your Rosary?
Because you'll end up searching for decades.
There are three things God doesn’t know:
What a Dominican just said, what a Jesuit might be about to say, and how many Franciscan orders there are.
One day Jesus noticed a lot more people than normal were getting into Heaven, so he went to St. Peter to see what was up. Peter said, "Look Lord, I closed the gates like you said, but your Mom keeps letting them in the back door!"
