Happy New Year! It is great to have anything new!
This new month offers us another new beginning. It is a time for us to get a new start on so many things. This year I invite you to consider reflecting on the Name of Jesus. The month of January is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus.
“In the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth and under the earth” (Phil 2:10). Christ’s name is chosen in Heaven and the Angel Gabriel announces it when he informs the Blessed Virgin of the Incarnation: “Behold thou shall conceive in thy womb and shalt bring forth a son and thou shall call his name Jesus”. It is a name that has spectacular implications, for it means “Savior.” His name reveals the magnitude of His mission and His infinite love for us. The name of Jesus deserves our dedication and reverence.
January also features the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on January 22. Many parishes are planning special events. Be sure to mark your calendar.
We are happy to announce that our Annual Holy Family Radio Benefit Dinner will return on April 29th. Please see the note about this later in this Newsletter. Please continue to pray for Holy Family!

Spiritual Advisor's Corner
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Did you stay up to watch the festivities in New York City? When I was growing up, I always fell asleep waiting for that ball to drop in Times Square, and my parents would have to get me up to see it, so we could "usher in" a new year. I then went right back to sleep. I was too worried about the bowl game Notre Dame was playing in on Jan. 1 (and probably losing), or thinking about the Christmas gifts I got a week earlier. I was looking ahead or backward, and couldn't care about the present.
As much as I could care less to see the New Year arrive, that memory is a great reminder how important it is to live in the moment as Christians. God is here with us NOW, and the more we look back or forward, the more we miss His Divine Presence with us now. Is it any wonder that so many of us don't feel His Presence in prayer? It's because we are trained by society to look ahead or backward. But an unhealthy focus on either leads to despair (from worries about the past) or anxiety (or worries about the future).
It is only when we "wake up" to live the moment, when we can feel the True Presence of Our God. He is constantly loving us into existence, and without Him, this moment would not be possible. His call is to us NOW, and perhaps that is why our world wants us to focus constantly on things happening in the future, or to saddle us with the mistakes of our past. If we focus on those, we miss Him. Advent was a time for us to "awaken" to the reality that Jesus is with us now. So, let us do in the new year what the Advent prayers at Mass instruct us: to judge wisely the things of this world, so that we may hold fast to those things that are eternal!

Prayer for the Unborn
Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life.
Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood.
Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image - as well as theirs - made for eternal life.
Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother can give.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever.

Update from Russ Fry
WHYF Community Relations Coordinator
January, a brand-new year ahead of us! However, before leaping forward into new adventures and challenges, we should recall what we accomplished in 2021. For me, 2021 at Holy Family Radio began in February. It is when I joined HFR as the Community Relations Coordinator. It didn’t take long to get my feet wet as we started preparing for our first virtual fundraising event that was to replace the Annual Dinner. Yes, COVID was still disrupting normal operations. Our Faith Renewed Event is still available to view as a podcast on our website. Along with our Faith Renewed Fundraiser, we had our first on-line auction. A big thank you to all who participated and especially to those who donated items. As Spring wound down, we conducted the Spring Pledge Drive.
We then moved into a fast-paced summer where we attended three Parish Festivals. We met quite a few listeners and made some new friends at these events. We also participated later in the year at the Dillsburg Farmers Fair. About that time, we also had our Fall Pledge Drive. We finished up the year with our year-end call for tax deductible contributions.
As you can see, we had a very active year. We appreciate all the donations, both financial and time from our volunteers. Everyone contributed to a very successful year.
Well, so much for the old, how about the new? We have already begun planning for the Annual Fundraising Dinner. You will not want to miss this one. Mark your calendars for Friday, April 29th. Our Keynote Speaker is Dr. David Anders of EWTN’s “Called to Communion." We have also changed the venue to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. We are very excited about this event and hope that many of you will come out to meet Dr. Anders. Remember that this is a very important fund-raiser for us. The cost will be $100 a plate. That’s just $25 a month if you start saving from now until April. Let’s make this the best attended event ever for Holy Family Radio. Personally, I’m excited to meet Dr. Anders and hope that you are, too!
Also, look for our Spring Pledge Drive. It will have a new format this year. Summer will find us again visiting parish festivals. It promises to be an exciting year with a few surprises along the way. One planned item I will let you in on – we expect to have our very own app soon. Be sure to look for it.
That’s all for now. We’ll be keeping you up to date on the dinner as we move forward.

January - Dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus
The month of January is traditionally dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus. This Feast is also celebrated on January 3. Here is an explanation of the Devotion.
Since the 16th century Catholic piety has associated entire months to special devotions. The devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus has been traditionally associated with the month of January, due to its celebration on January 3. The name Jesus was given to the Holy Child at God's command (Luke 1:31). The Holy Name is all-powerful because of the Person who bears it; we honor it because of the command of Christ, that we should pray in His Name and because it reminds us of all the blessings we receive through our Holy Redeemer. Hence St. Paul was able to write to the Philippians: ". . . at the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth" (Phil. 2:10). By means of this Devotion, we also make amends for improper use of the Holy Name.

When the Diocesan Information Technology Technician checked the parish computers for security problems, he found that the Youth Minister was using the following password for her computer: MickeyMinniePlutoHueyLouieDeweyDonaldGoofy.
When the technician asked why she had such a long password, she said, "Hellooooo! You guys in Support said that it had to be at least eight characters long, didn't you?"
