For me, summer time has always been a time of refreshment. It is my favorite time of the year. I enjoy the extra sunlight, the warm evenings and being outdoors as much as possible. My problem is I never seem to have enough time. Organizing the things that I need to do and the things I want to do has always been difficult for me. I have been reflecting on the idea of time management. I believe that we, as Catholics shouldn't just "manage" our time. We should demonstrate our stewardship over this precious life that God has given us. Sometimes we forget that time is a great gift He has given us. Each day He gives us 1,440 minutes to do with as we choose. Consider the ways that you use your time. Are you using it wisely? Time management isn't about a lack of time, but more about how we are using it. Join me in praying for the discipline to have better control over the time that we have been given.... and make some time to pray for Holy Family Radio!

Spiritual Advisor's Corner
I have many weaknesses, and one of them is ice cream. I will drive long distances for chocolate ice cream with peanut butter, or a Hurricane or Tornado or Blizzard or whatever it is called! The hot weather makes me crave this dessert almost every night! I wonder if you have the same issue in the summer?
Our cravings at different times of the year, or at different hours (I love to have chips in the afternoons), are real manifestations of what our bodies desire. However, we were made to desire Our God at all times! All of our beings were made to go to Him, to look to Him, to worship Him. And yet we suppress that desire. Why?
If we truly believe that we are being made into Him (and we do believe this, because we receive His Life in all the Sacraments), then why do we desire food or other things over Him? Why is our desire for Him much less than it is for material things? Or so it seems?
Everytime we have a craving for ice cream or food, perhaps it'd be good to give thanks to God for His great creation, but also to remember that we always have a desire for Him - after all, we are being transformed INTO Him, so that we can live and reign with Him forever! Have a great summer!

Update from Russ Fry
WHYF Community Relations Coordinator
Rfry@720whyf.com
It’s hard to believe that it’s July already! One half of the year is already gone! It was a very busy six months. We are not going to slow down over the next few months. By the time that you read this, we will have participated in two Parish Festivals and Jubilee Day in Mechanicsburg. In July, we will be at Mary, Mother of the Church in Mt. Joy for their Christmas in July Bazaar. We follow that up in August with two more Parish Festivals. More about them in our August Newsletter.
Our major Spring Fundraising efforts are over, but our need for donations is still great. Like you, we have monthly bills that keep coming regardless of lack of steady income. We also have annual bills that come due over the summer. Any donation that you can make over the summer will be greatly appreciated. It is supporters like you that keep our station on the air.
We also need funds for equipment upgrades. Our transmitter is slowly failing and needs replacement. That cost alone will be $25,000. We need computers that run our programming software and a network computer. They are each several thousand dollars. We would also like to buy equipment that would allow us to do remote broadcasting from the festivals and other functions that we attend. If you can help us with funding that can be earmarked for that equipment, please contact us at the station at 717-525-8110.
We hope that you are having a great summer and that you will continue to do so. Please keep us in your prayers.

Summer Church Festivals
WHYF will be at the following Parish Festivals:
July 16 Mary Mother of the Church, Mt. Joy
(Christmas in July Bazaar)
August 5-6 Holy Spirit, Palmyra
August 27 St. Ann Byzantine Church, Harrisburg
We are looking for some volunteers to attend these festivals with us. WHYF needs people to give out information about us. It is fun and easy to do. We need to have at least two people at a time. Attending these festivals is an enjoyable way to help spread the news about WHYF. Please consider volunteering to spend a few hours with us at one of these great events.
Contact us if you can help out!

The month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood. The feast of the Precious Blood of our Lord was instituted in 1849 by Pius IX, but the devotion is as old as Christianity. The early Fathers say that the Church was born from the pierced side of Christ, and that the sacraments were brought forth through His Blood.

The “Constant” Prayer of St. Catherine of Siena
“Precious Blood, ocean of divine mercy: Flow upon us! Precious Blood, most pure offering: Procure us every grace! Precious Blood, hope and refuge of sinners: Atone for us! Precious Blood, delight of holy souls: Draw us! Amen.”

A pastor went out one Saturday to visit his church members. At one house it was obvious that someone was home, but nobody came to the door even though the pastor had knocked several times. Finally, the pastor took out his card and wrote “Revelation 3:20” on the back of it, and stuck it in the door.
(Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and him with me.)
The next day, the card turned up in the collection plate. Below the pastor’s message was the notation “Genesis 3:10”.
(I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.)
