JUNE 2025

June brings us Fathers' Day. One of the roles I have is being a dad. Of all of the roles I fill, I think being a dad is my favorite. Being a dad of three kids is certainly a challenge but it is also so rewarding. I am now blessed to have three grown children, but I am still their dad. I try to serve as an example to them. I am also a resource for them. This year, instead getting your dad a tie they don't need, I suggest a better gift: time. I know I appreciate spending time with my kids. As we get older, we get a better understanding of how important time is. It is God's gift to us. We need to use it well. Please spend time with your dad this June. If your dad is no longer with you, please remember him in your prayers this month.

This summer is going to be busy for us at WHYF. We have several projects that we are working on. Please keep your prayers and financial support coming! Thank you!

WHYF AM 720 Broadcast Tower Upgrade

This month Holy Family Radio is planning to move to a permanent vertical broadcast tower in the Harrisburg area. This will be an improvement to our signal for our over-the-air listeners.

During this transition to a permanent tower we will need to move all of our transmission equipment from its current location on the West Shore to its new home in Harrisburg. During the several days that it will take us to do this, we will not be broadcasting on the air. We will give you ample warning about this via emails, social media messages and a posting on our website.

You will still be able to listen 24/7 to all of your favorite Holy Family Radio & EWTN programs via the Livestream on our website as well as via our Free Mobile App. To learn more about these options check them out on our website, www.720whyf.com.

This project has been difficult, challenging and expensive. We are very close to realizing the dream of a permanent tower location, but we are not there yet. Your generous donations are urgently needed for us to complete this necessary and vital work. At this critical time Holy Family Radio needs you to support it so that together we can continue to spread the message of our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Please call 717-525-8110 or visit www.720whyf.com to make your donation now to help us fully fund this vital project. Thank you and may God continue to bless you!

From our Co-Founder Betty Girven:

When I was about 9 years old, I wanted to raise some money to buy my parents their birthday gifts so I did as many kids did back then, I sold Cloverine Salve. When I received the salve to sell, enclosed in the box was a sign which I put up in my bedroom. It said: "Only one life, 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last." Everyday I was reminded of what really counts in this life.

Back in 2001 when we visited various parishes in this area, I used that quote in my presentation to the parishioners. It is still our reminder everyday as Holy Family Radio goes on the air: "Only one life, 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last."

Spiritual Advisor's Corner

Father Timothy Sahd

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It was so beautiful to witness the election of a pope. It gave me chills watching the ancient events: the white smoke, the crowds gathering in St. Peter's Square, the anticipation, everything. It was such a wonderful display of what our Church is truly about: Mystery, being lifted out of this world into another realm, and joy!

You could see it on the faces of everyone in the crowd. It was a time of unity!

What the crowds might not have known, or thought about, was that that unity was real! It's because, when we are gathered together, we are together as the Body of Christ. What they were attracted to was that connection to Jesus: to His Church, to His Body! There was a unity there, despite different cultures, different religions, different everything. There was a unity because the Body of Christ was gathered together with their head (the new shepherd, Pope Leo). What attracted them was Him!

This is what brings us together every week at Mass. When we are gathered together as the Body of Christ, to receive the Sacrament of Unity (the Body of Christ), how could we not feel that same joy, mystery and peace? That moment and feeling shouldn't just be reserved for St. Peter's Square, but for every moment we are gathered together. Viva il Papa! Viva Cristo Rey!

God bless you,

Fr. Sahd

Holy Family Radio depends on our volunteers. If you feel called to help us, please pray about it and be open to God's will. We can particularly use someone who is willing to learn some of our technical operations. This person should know how to work computers. We can train you on our procedures. Scripture of the Month

Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 2

When Pentecost Day came round, they had all met together, when suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a violent wind which filled the entire house in which they were sitting;

and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves.

GET READY FOR SUMMER!

Update from Russ Fry

Thank you to everyone that supported Holy Family Radio by participating in our auction. We hope that you had a great time bidding on the items.

Our next event will be a Night at the Ballgame with the Harrisburg Senators at FNB Field on August 9th. This is a great opportunity for our listeners to come together and get to meet some of the personalities from the radio station. It is also a celebration of 14 years on the air. The Senators will be playing the Portland Sea Dogs. Use the Link below to order your tickets.

This is also a fundraiser and we hope that you will come to enjoy the game and support our radio station.

God bless you all!

June: The Sacred Heart of Jesus

Major Feast: Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (Friday following Corpus Christi Sunday)

The Sacred Heart is a profound reminder of the humanity of our Lord and of His immense love for us. It is often depicted as a heart, bloodied and broken, but burning with Love. This image beautifully illustrates the great sacrifice that Christ made for you.

As Jesus said to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque: "Behold this Heart which has so loved men that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming itself, in order to testify its love."

How to celebrate: Pray Padre Pio’s go-to Novena to the Sacred Heart.
